My daughter is saving up for a phone and it costs $200. She says she doesn't want to wait 2 months until Christmas. She's driving me crazy. Please do not put for me to pay for it as an answer. I want her to save up her money. Please if you have a way for an 11 year old to make money tell me. Please none of the traditional things like baby-sitting or anything. Thank you.

what if she does work for you around the house, and you pay her so much.
Raking leaves....its that time of year....older people pay to have their yards raked.
Snow is comming.......she can shovel snow.
cleaning other peoples houses,,,,,,she can put an add in the paper. As long as she does a good job....she can make some good money at that.
Making jewerly....and selling them.....you can buy the kits at a craft store...she can assemble them..and sell them to her friends.
Or anykind of crafts for that matter.

K, when i was 11, this is what i did.
1. Rake Leaves.
2. Sometimes if i did extra chores at home, my mom would pay me like $5.00 or something small, but useful.
3. You can even babysit. I started babysitting when i was in 7th grade, so maybe.
4. Lemonade stand too. You can make alot of $, if you know what your doing.
$200 for an 11 year old to make is kinda hard. You should maybe think about paying half or something.

You should be teaching her now about money, budgeting, and saving. Instead of the phone open a bank account for her
with $100.00 give her a weekly salary of say 25 bucks a week to help you with household duties and have her buy her phone herself...if she takes the money as soon as she reaches the two hundred dollar amount it is time to sit and talk to her about patience and how now she has emptied her savings account for a want and in the real world she would be bankrupt. |

Why? You're going to need excessive money for the bill anyway once she gets yapping. Your best bet is to offer her money help from the start and let her carry her own phone fees later. That way if she can't keep up she can't say you didn't help her. The responsibility ongoing will never be fulfilled anyway because she isn't babysitting and soon her phone will be shut off. |

Let her sell some of her other things on ebay etc.. vgagrage sale and also do family memebers favours around the house wash cars wah the dishes etc....
and then lend her the rest if she is short atleast she will have tried to make the money herself and of lernt that people help people who help themselves etc..

Good lord. An eleven year old doesn't need a phone. And let's not forget that the $200 will be only the initial cost. Who is going to pay the ongoing monthly bills?
Encouraging her to save money via a bank account is a great idea (as someone else mentioned). But until she has a steady income stream, you shouldn't let her sign up for a recurring expense like a phone. |
