I just looked up the job outlook of a pilot and saw that starting out they only earn 15,000-20,000 a year. Can someone put that into perspective for me on what kinda living situation I could afford,and a general how life would be? To be simple lets just assume its only me in the household no kids no wife. |

You won't be living like TV characters do. It's a frugal life style but you can still be very happy with the simplicity of it. Especially if you're working in a field that makes you happy.

so look for a job with a higher salary
bottom line: if u have wife and kids, life IS gonna be really really crappy

I make just under 20 thousand.. I have an 18 year old that has a part time job, she has a 2 year old son,WE take care of...
I do just fine..
I made sure I did not have a car note. and live in a good neighborhood, I still go on vacation and buy myself things when I need them..
15/20 thousand a year can be a good amount of money if you work it right.. |

It's about $1,000 a month. It'd be fantastic in Venezuela but not so hot in America. Your talking bus pass, bad neighborhood, two roommates and the dollar menu, however. you should check your Numbers again I thought pilots made more like $150,000. |

Its not easy...I would suggest living some where with a very very very very (did I mention VERY) low cost of living and getting a roomate. For example, I live in Los Angeles, and there is absolutly no way I could survive living on 20k a year by my self. |

I live at a private air park.
Maybe you can get a roommate and maybe be stationed somewhere inexpensive.
There is a website where the pilots talk..I'll see if I can find it.
I live on that and have..no biggie. |

I'd go to a bank and speak to a financial advisor.. They will help you budget everything out.. Tell you roughly how much you'll be spending here, there, and how much you can save/invest.. Stuff like that.. It's much better than the nonsense you'll get here..
But.. I can tell you that it won't do much.. Maybe get you a really small apartment with the basics..? That's not a lot. |

I earn about 19000 a year, which after tax is about 1350 a month. My bills (rent, council tax, a loan, gas, electric, water, internet, mobile, car insurance, tv license, gym) and food, cigarettes (i know), petrol... leaves me with about £100 to blow (should save).. roughly. I was on £15k about 2 years ago but didnt have half so many outgoings. Depends what you want/need and what your circumstances are |

....u can barely survive with that i bet....i started working as an accountant a year ago i'm making $50,000 and I just barely have enough to make it through the year. Nowadays food prices, rent, insurance, fuel are high.
My advice go to school and get a degree(diplomas are useless nowadays). |
