Take £2-5 to save and put it in one of those tin can money boxes, the kind that you have to use a tin opener to open it with so there's less temptation to raid it. Also see if you can get a job somewhere to raise extra cash even if it's just helping out a neighbour your family trusts. |

First and foremost --- go back and record what/where you spend your money. Tools like a spreadsheet, GNUCASH, or Quicken could be helpful --- but just a daily book would do.
Find out what is a need and what is a want --- they defer your wants and control your needs --- you may find that you can live quite well without your daily coffee/tea or lunch.
Save your money in a form that is hard to spend --- buy silver/gold coins --- you will alway be able to get your money out (if you buy wisely) but you just cannot spend them easily --- it would require a consciencous action on your part.
Developed a budget and develop a goal --- reward yourself each week in keeping with your budget --- Make a goal to save £250 in the next 52 weeks ---
Keep track of where your money goes and start to control where you take your money |

It all depends on how committed your are to saving any money. At 14, i doubt you are old enought to open a bank account. For starters ask your parents to open a National Savings account on your behalf. You will then receive a payment book, into which you could pay, say, £5 per week into it. There is no immediate withdrawal facility on the account, you have to fill in a slip and send the book away to NS & I. You could also consider a cash ISA. There are plenty on the market. Again, it depends on how much you want to save, how often and for how long you are prepared to leave the money in the account. Most savings accounts can be opened with as little as £1. Please contact me if you require further help. |

If you really want to save...........decide on a percentage.....such as 1/3. Then every week....before you pay yourself, set aside the 1/3. It'll add up fast. |

well what do you spend £10 a week on?!?
i get £5 a week and when i was goin on holiday i used to put 25% away and didnt spend it, that way i still had £3.75 a week to spend. Also tell yourself that xmas is round corner and u will need to save up for prezzie's for people. Just think if you really need the stuff your buying.
Hope this helped |

Decide how much you want to save each week. For example, say you want to save 2 pounds of your 10 pounds each week. Put those 2 pounds into a bank account or ask your parents to hold it for you before you spend any of that week's money. Then you will only spend what's left, and your savings will begin to grow. |

Whenever I get money, I hide it from myself so that I won't be able to find it when I want to spend it... But then you've lost you money. Maybe that's not a good answer. :/ |
