Well, your parents are right. Lawns and such is sort of paying your dues for being a member of the family. So, you will have to work for others. Can you do dog sitting while people are on vacation? Or collect their mail, water their lawns? You might go door to door in your neighborhood telling people that you are available for such things. Leave them with a piece of paper with your name and phone number on it.
And, drop the word "child". Twelve is twelve, but your head is on too straight to be called a child. I wish you every success. The history books are full of stories of highly successful people who started by doing odd jobs for small change as young people. |

Babysitting, mowing lawns for other people, doing gardening work for neighbors, sell lemonade or some other yummy summertime food! Next year try making a small garden with tomatoes/watermellon or something and sell those when they are ripe! I clean houses for a living and I am 18, I've been doing this since I was 15. My moms being cleaning homes her whole life! It's good pay as I get $10/hour and my mom now gets $15/hour. I work once a week and only for 3 hours. |

When I was about that age, my grandmother let my brother and I pick all of the flowers in her (huge) garden and sell them at a little stall by the side of the road on Mother's Day.
I suppose those circumstances might be pretty specific, but it's thinking outside the box, at least. |
