I'm fed up of having no money!!?
I'm 13, and I'm ALWAYS the one without money. My parents give me around £50 a month, depending on what my phone bill costs (if its over my bill allowance they take it out of my pocket money). Problem is, I have to buy EVERYTHING with it: school food, pay for going out with my friends, everything and they stick to it- there's no way they'll give me more.

I never have nay money- I spend it in the first week or 2.

How can I save money for things I like? I cant open another bank account or anything, and I try not to spend but I cant help it!

Your parents are hoping you'll learn to budget. So far, it's not working.

Here's one way to begin. Get yourself a box of inexpensive envelopes. Set out one for each week (or partial week) of the month. Put the money for necessities for each week in its envelope.

Now set out a separate envelope for discretionary income--money you don't *have* to spend, like phone bill money over your allowance, snacks, going out with friends--one per week or partial week.

When you're out of the house, carry only that week's envelopes with you. No borrowing against future weeks, not even for something special, and no dipping into the necessities envelope for anything that's non-essential. (Golly-gee, maybe you could save for larger expenses.) Period. That way, you'd always have some money every week.

ur parents are setting u up for life......life aint the O.C hun....

THE ONE THE ONLY
Save it! (when ur parents give the money 2 u the first week don't spend it and then the 2nd week don't spend it and then by the 3rd or 4th week you'll still have enough money to do things!) I know it is hard but, just try your hardest! Good Luck!

get your mom to open a savings account for you and try to put as much each time you get money in the account. if you can put it away its like you dont have it just dont touch it unless it is very important.

It's even hard for some adults to budget their money for that long of a period.

Instead of asking for more money, ask it they will give you half on the first and half on the 15th of the month. When the 15th arrives, put away and save all the money you have left over from the 1st. and so on...

Pack a lunch once in while. Stay with in your phone allowance. Pay attention when you are spending money on stuff you don't need.

If you actually want to save some money, take sandwiches to work for lunch. You can make them all on Sunday night (peanut butter, jam, hummous, tuna etc) and wrap them in cling wrap and freeze them in the freezer. I do this and it saves me nearly a thousand dollars a year in what I'd spend on lunches.

Next, stop using your phone willy nilly. Ask yourself whether you need to actually make a phone call, or whether you can send a text message. Do you really need to tell that person something right now or can it wait til you see them? Or consider getting a prepaid phone, and paying for your own credit. That will make it easier to control spending on the phone, because no credit = no calls.

If you're spending all your money in the first week or so, then you have bad money management skills. You just need to practice saving your money. Put at least 10% of that allowance in the bank, and don't touch it. Do it when you get paid, so you don't have the money to spend for the rest of the month.

Your parents are doing the right thing in making you responsible with your money. You need to control your spending. That is a huge amount of money for a month, and you need to accept that you can't buy everything. You need to get your priorities right and spend your money on what you really want, not crap you don't need. For instance, when going out with friends, have a budget. If you use that money, don't go out. They'll see you at school, so it's not the end of the world.

Best wishes

if you do this for two months you will have save at least 35 dollars. 1)your parents do not forbid you to eat from their home, so for two months you will make lunch everyday(not cool) but we need to save.2) no movies, rent a movie, there some grocery stores or fast food places where you can rent a movie for $1 dollar a night or you and your friends put money in the pot to buy a movie. 3)if your like most teenagers who have to buy the latest jeans or shirt etc, you need to wait for a three dollar sale or not buy for two months. you cant spend almost $50 dollars in 2 weeks anymore for two months. remember this is an experiment!!!! you will be more wise at the end of your journey don't get older and be like most adults who did not learn at an early age about money. money is not evil, we make it evil. you can't spend a whole lot of money unless you first give it an opportunity to be spent. hey you might have more than $35 dollars but as and old money spender like myself i took the challenge and now my bank account statement reads M-O-N-E-Y. GOOD LUCK!!

You can't help it? Yes you can. How about you go ask for extra things around the house?

Astinus the Chronicler
I have the EXACT same problem. If you keep letting people know that you need money, and they know your availible, then they might put you to work. Also, if and when you are put to work, act as mature as possible, but be human. Most importantly, be a hard worker, so that they'll know to come back to you next time. If you have a talent, make sure everyone else knows. That could come in handy. And, don't stress. Finding a fisrt job is not easy. i learned that a while ago.

Get a job say walking some neighbors dogs, or delivering the newspaper, shovel peoples sidewalks when snowing if you live in an area where it does snow. You can also ask neighbors about babysitting, or even cleaning their homes for extra money, then put half of that away for savings. Just think about different things and/or ways that you can make extra money yourself without relying on your parents. Also it will show them how responsible and creative you are which always gains bonus points.

well im lol a little older then you a i have to get a job soon maybe start looking into that or find something you really want and every penny pu it in a jar or something?

This will be tough to do at first, but it works IM anamerican and dont know what the exchange rate works ,but I think it about 2.25 american to the E nglish pound, as soon as you get yor money set up an emeegency fund set back at least 35.00 put it some where thata hard to get to .DO NOT TOUCH THIS MONEY. There will some times when you think your going out short of money , but live on that and dont thake any extra from your fund .You will eventually be able to say no I dont need that right now. now when you get down to the lasttwo weeks ,take SOME of the money you have layed back, not all, even if you just leave five behind thats fine, when you get your new allowance put the same amount thad you did the first time, now your already 5.00 ahead of what you had! keep doing this and within a year you will be able to put your whole allowance in the box and just take what you need . try it it really works

Hey sweetie.

I understand how you feel. I used to get paid absolute peanuts when I was around your age BUT I was still very great full to receive this. It is a privilege to receive pocket money, your parents dont HAVE to give you any. You will inevitably learn the hard way that saving is a tough, daily task to do. You wil reap the rewards though! If you manage to prove to your parents that you CAN stay within your phone bill allowance and save a little until you receive your next amount of pocket money, they may just as well up your pocket pay!

Remember, your parents have huge bills to pay of their own, including the food, housing etc. that you use.

One day (16 or so) you will be able to earn your own proper wage and when you start paying for your own expenses (that higher phone bill your tempted to have). you will still find it hard enough to save, or even spend a little treat on yourself!

I wish you the best and I hope you found my advice usefull.

Buy candy and sell it.

You buy a box of candy from B.J's/Costco's for like 3-12 bucks with like 30-96 pieces of candy and sell them for 1 dollar. You get your money back plus a profit.

Baby Sit, Walk Dogs, Pack bags at a grocery store, mow lawns

** if you write good , you can get paid from $20 - $100 per post.

4.Online paid survey at http://surveyscout.url-site.com
*** there is a $35 fee to join , but you would earn more than that on first day of work.(My experiance)

5.Start blogging at http://blogger.com
*** write about anything you like and get ads from http://adsense.com

now , all you need is to start taking action, choose the work that you like to do and don't get tense doing it.
its usually hard when you start but then it becomes easy when you earn more experiance in your work.

hope this helps.

Why arent your parents paying for school lunch? Bit mean if you ask me.. I can see them asking you for money if you go over on your phone but you are 13 you cannot work they should be giving you money to do things if you do chores around the house.. Talk to them
