Did you fail your maths? You asked for it. You do it yourself...now I know you know how to come out of it!!

tx_desert_rose_1988
It might take a while but I would try this. Figure out your bills. Whatever you use for eating out, or things that you can live without, use to go for your debt. Like if you spend $8 on a movie ticket, stay home and watch tv. It sucks, and it takes a long time, but it works.

Hello - Take this advice from someone who has been there. Not to scare you but take care of this now before it turns into something worse, because it can very quickly without you even relizing it. $900 may seem like a lot to you now, but that amount of debt can easily be taken care of if you really want it to. Don't do what I did - not worry about it until later - later is always tomorrow - then you just become numb to your debt and it just grows and grows and then you find yourself in bankruptcy 10 yrs later. To help you I'll need more info though. If you answer the following questions I help you a lot more. It may seem like much, but beleive me, it will only take a few minutes and it will help - if you really want to take care of this debt.
What are your absolute necessary monthly living expenses (lease/morgage, car payment, food, gas, insurance, cell phone, utilities, child support, anything that must be paid every month)? List all of these.
If you live with someone and they can let you go without paying for a month or two (find out and then do not consider that as a monthly expense)?.
Is your debt on a credit card?
If so, how long have you had this credit card?
If so, is this the only credit card that you have?
If so, is it a store credit card or a major credit card (visa, master card)?
Are you behind on payments or have you been making your payments on time?
What is your APR (annual interest rate)?
Are you only making the absolute minimum payments?
If this is not credit card debt what type of debt is it?
What is your actual take home pay each month (after taxes)?
By answering these questions I can help you more. Trust me, $900 can be taken care of in a short amount of time, don't let this grow into more debt than it has to. I hope you have found this helpful. Please reply if you feel I can help.

Hmmmm... hopefully there is no interest being added to your current debt. It will take time but you may want to either pick up a second part time job or start looking for a higher paying job. This of course depends on our current schedule, responsibilities and desire to work more than 1 job. Do you have any other bills you have to pay, such as shared rent, utilities, school expenses...... eating, laundry etc... so you see how your $8.00 an hour X 40 Hours may certainly not be enough. If the debt is a personal one.... to friends or family see if they will extend the time of repayment.. if it's a credit card or medical bill you can usually negotiate terms of payment directly through them. I don't have enough information about your particular circumstances outiside of the debt itself so I hope this helps on some level. Best wishes.

I wish I only had $900 to pay off. Must be nice to not be in so much debt. ;)

First do not incur any more debt.
Second contact the people your in debt to and discuss the matter.
Third pay the debt off, if you net two hundred a week, bite the bullet and send them $50 and do without a movie and eating out for a while.
Forth get a second job cutting yards at twenty bucks a crack, cheating the feds out of their taxes this kinda money adds up quick, but I would never suggest that you cheat.

katiara2@rogers.com
Look for a non-profit credit counselling agency in your area. They will help you look at all your expenses, rent, vehicle, etc. and help you make priorities.

Don't incur any more debt until you figure it out.

go to any place where you are skilled at and drop off a resume try to find a job where you don't work $8 an hour and try to cut back on unnecessary expenses try not to eat out and got to things like movies and other gatherings also note 8 * 5 * 40 = 1600 even with taxes taken off thats no problem right? (i know you have other expences but it wont take long to pay it down if you try)

Katetrinity
I would really like to help or suggest something. I've had experience in this. You don't give enough information. What is the $900.00? Does that include rent/utilities etc. or is it plain debt?

You need a good budget you can stick to. Do you live alone?
Seriously, if you would like help, you can email me.......At least you are not sitting on your butt because your job doesn't pay you $25.00 an hour. You are trying and that is all it takes..............

pinkstealth
Absolutely and positively look at ONLY your needs.

NEVER spend a nickel you don't have to.

Put aside as much as you can toward the debt.

Depending on what kind of debt it is, you may have options. Credit card debt can be handled through consumer credit counseling services (do NOT use any company that charges a fee more than a few dollars per account). For other debts, try offering them a settlement amount. Say, "I'm never going to be able to pay off $900. Would you accept $600 on a payment plan?"

I don't know if your debt is all one lump sum or several debts that add up to that amount. I went to a seminar that taught us how to get out of debt. Whatever bill is the smallest amount- work on paying that one off first. When that first one is paid off, take the amount that you were paying for that first bill and add that amount to the minimum on the next bill until it is paid off. Keep going in similar fashion until your debt is paid off. I wish you the best.

Put all your expenses into a list, leave a little for your own personal spending, but be reasonable, remember paying your debt off now means alot more money for yourself later, because debts usually make interest.

Try not to splurge, like dieting, go lite on everything. If your partner, if you have one, gets upset youre not spending money on them, kindly explain your situation, in full. this way it avoids untrusting situations.

force yourself to put a large percentage of your income towards your bills. pay more than min, or you will never get out of debt.
the faster your out of debt now, the better it is for your future, and can do the things you want to do.

Okay, 8 dollars an hour, 40 hours a week, 320 dollars a week? before taxes. add in some taxes, you got yourself, 260 (on the safer side, may be more).
Take 80 dollars a week towards your accumilated debts (not your monthly bills) the rest put in a fund to pay for yoru car insurance, and other monthly bills, and other expenses, like food and gas . That leave s you with, over 700 dollars per month, and in just as little as 12 weeks (counting interest), your debt is paid off in full.

if i knew your debts, and your monthly expenses, i could help you out more.

You can start by finding a better paying job. Or, On your days off cut a couple lawns or some other type of side work that you can handle. I cut two lawns a week at $50 dollars a pop. Cash money not taxes.

if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan
however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,

a good place to start in my humble opinion is:

Work out a plan with your debtors to see if they can lower payments for you. A lot of places will do that because in the long run, they want repaid.

you could try going to some loan comanies, borrowing from friends or relatives, talking to your creditors or asking your boss for more hours at another store if not at his (believe it or not, working for a large chain like that where you can possibly pick up some extra hours is a bonus) Is it for rent? See about paying out your debt. You might have to find a way to move to a cheaper place, or eat ramen noodles for a while.

good luck

Tell all your relatives about it. Don't ask them for the money, just let them know that you have the debt. they might offer to pay it off. Just don't make it seem like you are asking them to do it.

i owed 36K at the beginning of school, now i owe 16K, so you'll manage
thats not a lot of money even if u work at subway

Oli
Believe me that's not as much as you might think. There are plenty of jobs you can do at weekends which will earn you $100 a day. As the guy above said, cutting lawns is an option. Offer to do odd jobs for people (eg old people who can't do them themselves).

The secret to getting out of debt is not to get into any MORE debt. Make sure your paycheck covers your rent, food, bills etc- if it doesn't you'll have to economise.

ShouldBeWorking
It'll take a while, but try to concentrate on what type of debt you have. If it's a credit card and you are always only paying the minimum, try to pay it off by taking out a loan with a set maturity date. That way you know each month you are actually getting closer to your goal. Try to make extra money and put it towards the debt as well. . . Be creative. Try to get overtime, sell some old books or textbooks on amazon.com, pick up a side job on the weekend, sell unwated items on craigs list, etc.

$900 is not a big sum. In time, you can pay off.
Work more partime jobs, earn more and spend less.
There are lots of excellent suggestions here for you already.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
You can make it.

umm get a better paying job...go to school part time, get a degree, even a 2 year associate's degree in anything will get you a higher pay. which will get u a job that pays 3 times more.
