This is a very well-known scam - usually known as the Nigeria 419 - and people have lost everything including limbs and lives by going along with it. There are several websites that will tell you about - search for terms like 'scambusters' and 'Nigeria scam' and all will be revealed. |

This is a scam! They do this to try to get your information (i.e. your bank account number, so they can wipe you clean) they might say that they are going to deposit money into your account but really they take everything you have! Just think about it if you were really going to get all that money, do you think you'd be contacted in an e-mail? The answer is NO! You should contact the police, it's really sad what these people do |

I would be suspicious.
There are scams out there, asking you to do this, then send a money order or cashiers check, for "inheritance taxes" then they cash your money order and your bank finds out thier funds are no good and takes the deposit back, and you are out the money!!! |

it's definitely a scam. ignore them or if you want to play with them...toy with them but do not ever give your account...do not ever give them money in any means....I've received several emails like that but i just play with them...like giving wrong bank accounts, unofficial receipts of money gram because they will eventually ask you an amount for processing fee.....later they stopped perhaps they realized that i was just toying with them....just work hard for a living....good luck! |

There is no reality in this one, it's a pure scam - usually from Nigeria - they come in many forms - sometimes it's an e-mail to your yahoo account, or someone who "says" they are American but "stuck" in Africa needs some money to help out their "son" to get an operation - yeah don't fall for them - I've become VERY careful after one person tried to scam me, I started asking all kinds of questions that anyone from America would be able to answer unless they were in the dark - like questions about football or colleges or even as simple as the boy scouts - when they "stumble" over the answers I get really suspicious - Safe yourself the pain of getting all of your money taken or even worse, being under investigation from the FBI - they have a task force for scams coming from Nigeria (I looked it up on the FBI website) - you would be amazed how many spam e-mails come out of Nigeria - it's crazy. You can also check Snopes.com as well for scams and spoofs. If this e-mail came through yahoo, forward it to the yahoo spoof people and they will deal with it - especially if they have a yahooo 360 page. Stay safe on the internet and don't let anyone get you where it will hurt (your wallet).

If you know someone who is corresponding in one of these schemes, encourage that person to contact the FBI or the U.S. Secret Service as soon as possible.
Be skeptical of individuals representing themselves as Nigerian or foreign government officials asking for your help in placing large sums of money in overseas bank accounts.
Do not believe the promise of large sums of money for your cooperation.
Guard your account information carefully. |
