There is no way you can afford to live on your own or even with a roommate on $400 a month. Trust me, I've tried it. I am in college and have a student worker's job that doesn't give me enough hours and I make close to what you make. I share rent with two roommates and my monthly bills still come out to more than $400 a month. I have to do odd jobs and take out student loans to help pay.
I will not believe that you can't find a better paying job. It sounds like you just aren't putting in enough hours.
If you can't put in extra hours, and I know this is probably the problem because it's hard balance work and school, then you need to either find a much higher paying job or take out student loans. If you file your FAFSA you may qualify for government subsidized and unsubsidized loans, or you could take out a private student loan. If you keep your debt under $8k it won't be too difficult to pay back. If your credit isn't good enough to get a loan, you could ask your parents to cosign, since they are ready to see you move out anyway.
Good luck to you! It is soooo nice having your own place! |

Sorry to say but you don't make enough money right now to move. You should stay home and stack up enough money and then move, ONLY if you REALLY have to. And depending on where you live, it may be way too expensive.
So, get a better job, save your money and find a roommate, then move. Otherwise, you'll probably end up back a home or on the streets after being evicted and not paying your rent. Trust me, sometimes it's easier to just stay at home. If you ever plan on going to college, it's best to stay at home then leave. Most likely, those who leave home as young as you are, end up going back. |

Make a deal with your parents. They are testing you on responsibility.
1.) Find a new job immediately as though you're going to be homeless soon. Hopefully a job that involves working with a restaurant and tips. Or become a dog bath and brusher. Apply to many temp jobs. Apply on monster.com, snagajob.com, hot jobs in yahoo. Go to shimmeringresumes.com to make a good resume.
2.) Sell yourself in your interview. When the interviewer asks questions. respond with good answers.
3.) Find shared housing a college dorm and move in with friends or responsible roommates.
4.) Don't lag. |

are you taking college classes? if so, can you get a student loan? find someone who is moving and buy their contract. you definitely need roommates to share the cost of the housing. buy only the bare minimum for food until you get a better paying job. |

1) Rent a room, not a whole apartment. My brother has lived in Chicago on $500/month for the past 5 years. He has a great place with great roommates, and found it by answering an ad.
2) Get another job, or an additional job. If you have a great resume builder job that pays less than minimum wage, then you need to work two jobs. I worked three jobs at one point in my life, and was able to make $7,000 in one summer without making more than $5/hr. Plus, your additional jobs will keep you out of your house more which may allow you to "buy" a little extra time while you search/save.
3) Find a sugar daddy. There are plenty of dirty old men out there with lots of cash that would love to hang out with a 19 year-old. If this is unacceptable to you, then focus on 1) and 2) above!
Good luck!! |

You could always transfer to another college. Is there a traditional 4-yr type school around? If so, maybe consider transfering. I bet the school would accept your non-technical credits from the community college. Plus, they say having a 4 yr degree usually means higher income when you graduate. I have no other ideas... sorry.
Good luck! |

I would stay put and patch things up with the folks. You CAN'T live on your own - or even with roomates - on $100 a week. Even if that is take home pay.
Let's say your rent is $650 a month and you share with 4 other people (very very unlikely). Your share would be $162. Assuming that all the bills are included (very unlikely). That would leave you with about $250 a month for groceries, transportaion, clothes, medicine, etc.
What about your tuition and books? What about health insurance, entertainment, cosmetics, etc.?
I don't think you are ready to move out. |

Go to craigslist and try to find a housing exchange situation where you can help out around the house for room and board.

What kind of job looks good on a resume that only pays $100 a week. Are you also paying for tuition for school. Sounds like your stuck until you graduate and I hope that education will get you a better job. Hey, you could always join the Navy, thats it, Join the Navy. (problem solved) |

First of all you are an adult. You are suppose to buy your own groceries, clothes and anything else you need....If you are only making $100 a week, maybe you need a new job with more than 3 hours per day. Quit acting like a child. Suck it up. Get a job, move out of your parents house ........ |

Try, go to dshs, if your parents are making you buy your own food and clothing, you just might, might get at least food stamps, actually if they would (i think) tell you you can no longer live there and have till 1st of month to move and willing to write that down, you may get more help. It is not the best solution, but is one option. Have you tried a ywca? talked to anyone wiling to rent you a room, (friend of family maybe) say a room and board type thing, many parents of grown children understand you delima, and know it is hard for adult child to live with "their" parents but would do fine in another home that has a room to rent. i have done it before and only charged 25 a week, said when meals were, and they do there own laundry, (however, they understood it was expected they strive to better themselves and move as soon as practiable). It worked out fine for all. My only rules were no over night co. and no drugs or booze on the premises. They were glad to spend the 25 a week, and most time were busy with school and work. Just a thought. |

ok, think about is this way. You already buy your own groceries, clothes, and other stuff so you are practically supporting yourself. The only thing you don't do is pay rent. So, you need to rent a room, simple as that. You can't afford to get an apartment with someone so rent a room. I don't know where you live, but you can probably find a room for cheap. If you can't afford rent for a room, then you need to give up some of your free time and get a second job. Keep the one you have now, because if it looks good on your resume it will help you in the future.
if you want some ideas for a second job that make good money try bartending or serving but only in high-end places where you could make bank in tips. |

Katy,
Maybe look in your local newspaper and see if any girls are looking for roommates, sometimes you can find a roommate and share the costs of rent and food and utilities.
Good luck, you might have to find a new job. |

get a better job? that helps. or compromise with your parents. I started investing in stock and made some CD's (certificate of deposite) while i was a kid. soon it'll pay off . maybe you should invest? what is your job anyways? if you had good grades a job will just be a little extra. I think you should be proactive : go volunteer instead of a job. do something at city hall stuff like that =) (i'm not 19 yet but still...) well , good luck x] |

About college students and jobs. They tend to only want to work part time and in the evenings. That frees up some daytime full time jobs for you.
Apply to all the educational institutions. They can have good entry level salaries.
Resume is great but money will help you move.
Look for a roommate situation to minimize deposits and rent. |

umm... DUDE. money is your problem! get a nicer job. wait until u save enough money (btw, money doesnt grow on trees, you have to be patient) the time will come when you've saved enough. If you truly think that you cna handle the rpessure of a job and still stay focused then maybe moving into your friends apartment (or soemthing like that) getting a job, and paying rent. But remember, its a process, not an immediate response. |
