IN short Yes the note is still legal tender so you could spend it at a shop, they could refuse to accept the note but that would be more a case of there company policy than the legality of the note.
so you selotaped the note back together and try the shops as they would still be legal tender if both halves of the note show the serial number the same serial number.
if you want to be sure you can take them back to any bank or uk post office where they will normally be able to exchange them for you if you ask them to. |

one can only try. i took from a shop a note with the end off and missing and i questioned it. the girl said it was ok because it still had the note numbers on and watermark. i spent it in the next shop ! |

go to a local newagents, gve them the notes and say can i have change please. ie if you giv them £20 ask for 2 x £10 |

Shops might be reluctant, but take them into any bank, who will replace them with fresh ones. As long as you can produce both serial numbers (whether or not they are joined together) you'll get new notes. |

So long as BOTH serial numbers are legible you should be able to get them replaced at any bank. |

Take the torn notes to your bank and they will exchange them for you. Torn currency is still usable but best recycled by the treasury. |

If you have all the pieces and the serial numbers it is legal tender. Certainly the Banks will exchange and if sellotaped together I do believe most shopkeepers will accept |

If they're UK banknotes, as long as the numbers on one 1/2 are the same as the other 1/2 and you don't mix them up with the wrong numbers it should be fine, although I'd take them to a bank to have them changed. Good luck |

you need a special form from any Post Office for Mutilated Bank Notes. Complete the form and send off to the bank of England. and they will replace. |
