If you co-signed on an auto loan, you can not have your name removed in most cases. If you make such a request, an auto-finance company will treat the action as a request to write a new auto loan on the first-person's credit only. If they do not qualify, the original loan will stay in effect. In some cases, they may come back with an approval but at a higher interest rate. You would then have to get the first-party to take on the full loan at the new interest rate. |

If you're the co-signer and the loan is in default - or even just a slow pay - and has been reported to the credit agencies, then no, you cannot have that information removed from the credit reporting agencies. As a co-signer, you basically stated that if the primary is unable or unwilling to pay back the money loaned that you would then be responsible. Even refinancing the loan won't remove the prior bad marks, which will be on your credit reports for the next 7 years.

If by second, you mean you are legally responsible if the other person does not pay, then no, the debt will stay on the credit report. One of the downsides of co-signing for a loan is that the borrower's credit report on that item also becomes yours. |

You are the comaker on the loan. He/She is the maker. The only way to get you off the loan is to refinance the loan or draw up a new loan paying off the original with the maker being the sole responsible party.
It will show up on your credit report as a paid off trade. |

Should have thought about this before you co-signed the loan. Learn your lesson here and never co-sign a loan ever again unless you're OK with taking on the loan. |
