You're pretty late in the game to start investing, but you could look into some lower-risk investments to grow some money. |

To even contemplate retirement at age 50 you must
1. Be debt free
2. Have children's education fully funded
3. Have enough money invested to live on a 3% return
4. Be insurable for health insurance
5. Have a life plan for what you are going to do for the next 40 years
See a good financial planner, but my guess is if you have to ask the question the answer is no |

Consider on working part-time while you are able to. Getting jobs after age 50 is hard to get. Age Discrimination is alive and well in the United States. |

It really depends on how much you have put toward your retirement. Do you have enough in your retirement plan that you could continue to live the same lifestyle as you do now or will you have to downsize. Talk to you a financial advisor and see if you can afford to retire and maintain your lifestyle in comfort. HH |

How much money do you have? I advise you place your money in certain investment vehicles so that the money can keep growing and working for you whilst your retired. There are a variety of blue-chip stocks, bonds and mutual funds to keep your money growing. You can find information about this on a investment site like Investopedia: http://www.investopedia.com
It would have been better however, had you started at an age like 20-25. But it's never too late, and surely, it's better than living a life in debt.
Good Luck~ |

Buy a nice house outside of the country to retire to. The Philippines might be worth researching. |

yeah, it is kind of too late. if you have enough money, you might want to live in a tropical island in the pacific. the cost of living is way cheaper and you get to enjoy the sun and the sea all year long. |

Well being 50 you can save an contribute and extra $1000 as a catch up to your IRA. But 50 is awfully young to retire. Most people are working till about 70. So start catching up with your IRA and check out Motley Fool for recommendations on stocks and funds. They are at fool.com and are a good source of information for investment. |
