Try calling some local landscaping companies and see if they'd like some summer help. Or you could just ask your friends and neighbors if they would like you to mow their lawn, wash their car, etc. Maybe also look into painting fences and houses? If you find one house in need of painting, it could keep you emplyed for nearly the whole summer, and you won't have to work when it rains. |

Little oddjobs that somebody might suddenly need help for. You could put up a sign and try to spread the word. Sometimes suddenly some people need somebody to help pack their boxes for moving or something like that.
Chores, get your mom and dad to pay you to run chores for them. Talk to them sensibly about it.
Those jobs were all jobs you could do for your neighbors and people who live around. Since you are still in school, I recommend those jobs. But you could also work at a fast food resturant or as a waitress. Get your mom and dad to give you an allowance. You could also ask various teachers at school who live nearby if they need any help because you want to start a business that does little oddjobs for people. GOOD LUCK!! HAPPY SAVING! =D lol. |

Your efforts are commendable, but child labor laws will make a real job impossible for you. You need to devise something personal like mowing lawns that get by the child employment laws. They just cannot legally hire you. |

mow grass. clean house. wash dogs cats and gerbils. feed animals while owners are gone. wash cars. charge what's feasible in your area. i'd say ten bucks for grass front yards and don't mow down the flowers. wash windows,(houses, get a sqeegee with a long neck and be careful) and even offer to clean inside cars with armorall and such. make sure you're not liable for anything. make sure someone an adult knows where you are at all times. go door to door if you're in a decent neighborhood, or walk to one, i guess. offer to sweep steps, floors in corner stores, etc. theres tons of things. if you don't mind this kinda thing, you could even offer to make flower arrangements for people with lots of flowers. people will pay kids because they want you to have a good work ethic and because they're lazy. and because they knwo your ways of making money are limited. have fun on your trip |

Work around people's houses and gardens, if you like pets you could walk dogs/groom horses/feed cats or fish etc. I also took on lots of extra work around my own house (on top of usual chores) when I was that age and my parents upped my allowance accordingly. |

Hi! The best thing I know to do is working for the government. When I was 13, they had a thing called SUMMER HIRE PROGRAM..it still goes on. So,if you're fairly close too a Army, Airforce, Marines or whatever military base-check it out. They pay fairly well and cater to kids 13 and up! (Unless things have changed)..GOOD LUCK!!!
You could also be old fashioned and start your own business: run a paper route, create something worthwhile people want to sell, go around in a safe and prosperous neighborhood and cut grass OR see the age restrictions to become a lifeguard assistant. You could bask in the sun all day while helping the lifeguards with stuff. |

Paper routes are always great for a 13 year old. Sometimes, ice cream shops will let you help out. You could walk dogs, mow lawns. You could see if there are any older people living near you and ask if there is anything they might like help with. Ask your parents to get involved and let their friends and neighbors know you are trying to save for a school trip. Maybe there will be odd and end jobs you can do, such as helping out in the garden or yard. |

Check around with your parent's friends and your relatives and neighbors. Lots of people need little jobs done in the summer you can get paid to help do. Offer to help wash windows, weed gardens, paint, wash cars, etc. Make sure to mention that you are saving money for your trip. Most people will not only pay you for a good days work, but toss in a healthy tip for an honest hardworking teenager. Good luck, and have fun on your trip. |
