You should work things out with your wife, your finances, budget etc. She could atleast say NO for another child, Don't try to figure out how to save money or budget by your own, She could atleast help you, some woman become money illiterate because husband don't let them know what is really going on with his salary, and expect that things will always be OK when it is not. For instance, when you have none at all, it is OK, don't panic. Then the next thing is how to summarize all your budget and take a look on it and which one should be take consideration to be paid first. Then look for things that you don't really need in the house and try to make a garage sale to make money on these and set an schedules on everything you want to go or spend time by doing it less on a month. If you have habit like smoking or drinking, limit everything. And keep on doing this and make a report of your finances to look everytime you receive your salary. Woman needs a lot of security and I think your wife is good on this part, but giving her responsibility to work on your budget is recommended because if she only stays at home, she can look after it and you only have to concentrate on your work. You will keep on losing your money, might be you don't have report of budget that you look on everytime so you will know if you really have to spend or not. If you know you have no money to spend, you won't do a thing that might end you more broke. It would take time and patience, but it would give you both peace and respect later by working out your budget together. And it would be slow but you will see the difference on how to budget and to spend.

stop having kids they cost a fortune up until they are at least 18....

Obi-Wan Kenobi
Perhaps the 2nd baby was not a good idea at this time....ya think????

Don't worry...you're not the only one! Hardly anyone saves any money these days and most people spend more than they earn.

A good way of making a bit of extra money is selling things on ebay...thats what I do, just old clothes and stuff I don't need. Just a thought.

Best wishes, Emma

Michael
You mean your wife hasn't taken your paycheck and put you on an allowance yet?

Let the woman manage the finances, that should cut down on the impulse buying.

Grimmy is almost right...except the bills don't stop at 18!

LOL

Curbing your reproduction is one way to stem the flow of cash but also start really tracking where it is going.

Write down everything you spend...every penny.

Then add it up in catagories.

Often eating out is one of the big culprits.

Maybe you have a hobby that is taking too much of your money right now.

Maybe your wife is working and you think that is best but sometimes when you add up what it costs to have her work...childcare, gas to and from work, appropriate work wardrobe (Seriously do you have any idea how much panyhose cost!)...that cup of coffee on the way to work...suddenly you may find she is making less than all those costs! (Often you end up eating take out more too...since she's late home from work etc.)

Are you buying lots of new toys and clothes etc. for the kids...there are lots of used toy and clothing outlets with really great stuff! Ask Grandparents to consider putting money into a special account for their education in lieu of toys and toys and toys.

I hate to not buy a book for my kid but the library is a great resource! They often have videos and DVDs and computer games too.

We all have things we think we need that we can do with out. Cable, high speed internet, the new car.

Sit down with your wife and agree to calmly and rationally take a cold hard look at your money.

Plan for your future.

Avoid any spend now pay later items...except possible for a home of your own. Homeownership is usually always the better long term choice. But buying a TV on time is definetly NOT the thing to do. Save for it and spend the money when you reached your goal and sucessfully executed your financial plan.

Good Luck!

Then why are you having more kids???

xenobyte72
I would say I know how that feels but I have no wife or children, that must be 3 times worse!
You need to make sacrifices and claim for every benefit you qualify for.
