Nooooo!!! Don't get a Chase credit card! They moved my due date up 5 days (what the heck?) and then I was late (I had automatic payments through online banking) so they increased my interest rate to 29.9%!!! Stay away from chase credit cards!!!! They will mess you over.

I got my first credit card through Capital One. After I had it for a while they increased my credit limit and decreased my interest rate. I have had nothing but good experiences with Capital One. http://www.capitalone.com/

Also, Capital One is a California company, so they fall under California's consumer protection laws (even if you live in another state). Chase is located in Delaware, which has very few, if any, consumer protection laws regarding credit cards.

I have the chase card through amazon. But if I were you I would seriously think before getting one because once you get one it can be come addictive and a method of payment everywhere you go which can run you into even bigger money problems such as debt. I would find a card that gives you a low amount of spending money. Credit cards are helpful if just used in emergency situations. I have used mine a little too much and I am looking foward to paying it off and cancelling. If you make sure you only spend what you will be able to pay off when the bill comes due then you will have no fees to pay.

None. Chase card charges too much interest rates. So forget about them.

ballin girl
you shoul get a visa

NIGEL R
capital one , they start you of with a 2-3hundred pound limit.

Hello World
visa or mastercard should do

Why not try to live within your means?
Unless you can pay off the card each month, you'll drive yourself into deep debt.

Your State's Attorney General's Office (online) should have a list of available credit cards and the interest rates they charge.

DO NOT let yourself get sucked into that credit card racket - especially from Chase!
Take it from one who has been there: Try not to use a credit card at all unless you are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that you can pay off the ENTIRE balance every month.
If you carry any card, get one with low rates. Shop around for this. There are websites where you can compare rates and terms.
And only use it when you have no other option - as in an emergency where you need cash.
As for anybody's "Rewards" card, take a very close looks at who is actually being rewarded. Look at how much you have to spend to get that reward - and how cheap the reward actually is for what you have to "invest". You'll soon see that it isn't YOU that's being rewarded!
As a college student, you'll probably have enough other expenses or student debt. You don't need to make it worse with a credit card.

NONE. If you dont have a lot of money now, stay away from credit cards. Jsut imagine if you already had a $50-100 bill and no more limit left on the card...now you have a bill AND no card to charge with.

Richard J
I would advise you not to get a credit card at all. Credit Card companies offer college students cards with great rates so they can get you hooked on credit. Before long you have a mountain of debt, and you're stuck making minimum payments while your debt grows and grows.

A better idea is to face the fact that you're going to get through college without credit. Get a part-time job to give yourself a little extra money. You'll finish school with a sense of accomplishment, and you won't have to dig out from under a ton of credit card debt.
