you would either go to somebody for consulting and set up a pay back plan with them . but i saw a friend of mine manage his expense through an excel sheet, before he gets his salary he sets a list of all the expenses he has to pay, how much he has to save and then the remaining money he uses for his daily expenses. It works for him, may u should try and list all your expenses down so u can have a idea of what your suppose to pay first. |

Perhaps if you visit another bank & tell them your problems you may be able to consolidate all your debts into one payment each month that you can afford, this is what I did & it's going well. AND take the scissors to those credit cards!!!.. |

That you are so very upset is a good thing. It indicates your moral integrity. Arrange for an interview with your bank manager. Lay it all out on the table and ask him to help you. If this approach does not work look up "Credit Counselling Services" in the yellow pages. Make sure you contact the government sponsored not for profit credit counselling service. They will meet with you and go over your situation in detail. They have the power to stop your creditors from hounding you for payments and also have the power to reduce or eliminate interest charges at least temporarily. They will then arrange for you to pay them an agreed upon monthly amount which they will disburse to your creditors on a pro-rata basis. They can also offer you personal financial counselling to prevent you from getting into this kind of predicament again. Good Luck |

You can call each credit card company, and explain that you are having trouble. Try to negotiate a monthly payment plan, and ask them to suspend interest fees. As long as you agree to make the payment before the due date and actually send the payment on time they may oblige you. You may need to be a little pushy, not snotty. If the person you are speaking to says no, ask them whether there is anyone else authorized to make arrangements, that you can speak to.
If your credit is in the crapper, you won't be able to consolidate, unless you have big collateral. If you do, then you should look into it.
Bankruptcy lawyers will give you one free consultation. I'm not saying that you should file for bankruptcy, but since the laws have changed, people are required to undergo credit counseling before they are allowed to file. This is the safest route to find reputable credit counselors. A lot of debt consolidation companys, billing themselves as non-profit agencies promising to help you repair your credit, are rip off artists.
If you do file for bankruptcy, it isn't the end of the world.
If you are unable to make payments, and you are likely not to ever be able to get out of debt, then get it over with now, and file.
If your credit is ruined anyway, finish killing it, free up cash that you need to live on now, keep the credit card companies from suing you for unpaid debt, and start over again.
If you file Chapter 13, you may be able to fit your lawyer's fees in with the reorganization, instead of having to pay up front.
First things first, get all of your most recent bills together, including utilities, house payments, medical bills, everything that you pay for monthly, and write down what the monthly payment is, what the interest rate is, how much is owed today to pay it off.
Good luck |

Go to Consumer Credit Counselors at http://www.cccsdv.org/contact.htm. That link is for the Philadelphia area, but they'll be able to get you to one in your area. It's a legit agency funded by the creditors themselves. They'll work to reduce interest on your loans. Your credit cards will be closed and one payment will be debited from your bank account each month. You'll pay off your debt in about five years and you'll have a little extra cash in your pocket each month to live off of. |

Pay of what you can, work from lowest debt to largest debt. Make a payment arangement with as many as possible but make sure the payment arrangement is realistic for you. Do not agree to a payment arrangement you can not possible honor. There are alot of places that will try to work with you and others that will try to intimadate you. Also, a credit counselor is a very good idea because they usually have a repor with banks and credit card companies. Good luck, i've been there and it's very stressful. You can pull yourself out it just takes time, do not let your creditors bully you. |

You need to recognize the pattern in your cash and credit card spending that is causing your problem, develop a budget to help your see how to change your spending patterns, and probably take several other specific steps which will depend on your own specific circumstances (such as stop using one or more credit cards, set up automatic payment of some bills such as telephone.)
You will need help. Many communities have free counselling services for such problems, and there have been many books written on the subject.
1. Decide NOW to start working on your problem TODAY.
2. Visit your local public library. Ask the librarian to help you find books about personal budgeting. If you don't have a library card, read in the library.
3. If you go out for coffee (or other beverages or snacks), limit yourself to small non-specialty products and not more than 1 or 2 daily.
4. If you eat in restaurants, do it less frequently - in less-expensive restaurants, choosing less-expensive items from the menu and skipping dessert. If you drink alcohol - do it at home (yours or a friend's), NOT in a restaurant or bar.
5. Keep detailed accurate records of every penny you spend, every day. You can buy books to help - but DON'T. Look at a couple of books for ideas and examples (there will also be examples in those library books), and use a simple cheap notebook. Carry your expense record with you and record every penny immediately after you spend it.
6. Make a list of your regular sources of income and your regular expenditures (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly). You MUST do this to develop a realistic budget.
7. Make a list of your current debts - the current balance of each, interest rates, minimum payment required by each, and date payment is due. Same as the previous step, you MUST do this - don't skip it "because you already know".
8. If you are really "ill with worry", your problem is almost certainly too serious for you to solve by yourself - but it CAN be solved! You've admitted here (anonymously) that you have a problem, the next step is to admit it face-to-face to a competent professional. Look for your communities free debt counselling services. You may find them in the phone book where other community services are listed, advertised in brochures or on bulletin boards at the library or YMCA, or other places you may know in your community. Phone the Salvation Army or other community service organizations. Phone a bank - if you're nervous about your OWN bank, call another bank anonymously. (A credit counsellor will not be able to help you without detailed information such as I described above - so start NOW on those first steps, and plan to meet a credit counsellor within the next 5-6 business days.)
There is no fast or easy solution. This will be difficult - but it CAN be done and you will soon begin to recover from your "illness". Congratulations on taking this first small step, and good luck! |

The YMCA offers a free consumer credit counseling service. Set up an appointment and they will help. Do not consolidate credit cards or do anything without talking to someone first. |
