Vee, I have been there, Best advice I can give you is have a look in your area for a Citizens Advice Centre, or if you are eligible get a solicitor on Legal Aid. GOOD LUCK.

don't open the door to them, they can't force their way in!! but as soon as you open the door, they can put their foot in the door ledge and not let you close it and come in.

Whatever you do DO NOT LET THEM IN or even put a foot inside your door as soon as you do they then have right of entry if they return. If they arrive with police I'm not sure of the procedure.

Taloollah
You need to contact the people who are threatening you with this action. Act on it now and try and arrange some kind of repayment.
If you leave it, it won't go away, it'll just get worse and worse!

Often debt recovery firms will use this kind of threat to spur you into doing something and contacting them.

Please please don't leave it.

Say goodbye to the telly and car.

you need to ring them and come to an agreement of a monthly payment to repay debt, they cant refuse that, if they do, get your butt straight down to citizens advice, they wont let them get away with it!!!

DO IT NOW - DONT LEAVE IT ANY LONGER

What I do is turn off lights and be really quiet. Ive got letters from bailiffs threatening to come around as well for council tax. On the back of my letter it says that bailiffs cannot force entry to your property. They cant take anything without a letter first. I was very scared of them but when one turned up, he was a pewny little man and he arranged a payment plan which I am now paying off.
Ring them and try and set up a payment plan first.
If they see that you are making an effort in paying them off then Im sure they'll be understanding
Good Luck.

1. Do not let them in - Baliffs are not allowed to force entry to a property, they can however enter through an unlocked door.

2. Say that the possessions in the house do not belong to you, whilst baliffs CAN take joint possessions, they CANNOT take items that do not belong to you.

Helpful information about baliffs and your rights can be found at

My brother had a lot of problems with debt collectors calling. I did some research for him and found these people:

http://myvesta.org.uk/debt-advice-debt-help/?bankruptcy&gclid=CKy-3_evoJACFQ81QgodaSIn7g

I emailed them and was surprised that they called me back right away with answers. It was a very personal response from legal people with a lot of experience -- so, to me, they sounded very caring and trustworthy.

Good luck!

Amanda
I would seek professional advice. Go to your local CAB or a professional debt management company such as http://www.idealds.co.uk/.

DEAL WITH IT SOONER RATHER THAN LATER!

Stop what you’re doing! Stop it immediately! Stop throwing you money away into these fraudulent websites with these phony work at home jobs that claim to make you rich fast. They are all Scams ive tried them all and what I’m about to tell you is going to change your life!

The votes have just come back in and all the number has already been tallied great news!! Its official there is a new top free survey site which will completely take over the home workers market in a few months. They are offering high payouts and fat paychecks in you mail box every week yeah! You heard me every week!

Here is where you can go to find the link:

Type: http://www.chasetheglow.com

I probably don’t need to mention this but I will anyway…….Bookmarking or saving this website to your favorites list is a good idea!

You need to speak to your creditors and come to some kind of arrangement. It's important that you do this as soon as possible. Creditors are a lot more sympathetic with people who communicate than with people who ignore payments and warnings.

Unless it's the IRS they are bluffing. They can sue you, but that is about it. Most debt collectors won't even sue unless you're talking tens of thousands of dollars. They'll hound you for years but in the end they'll do a charge off or offer a lesser debt.

george_graham_crayford
unplug the telly

Johnny
If it is for normal consumer debt then it unlikely to be bailiffs, more likely to be a debt collector - they have no power. Bailiffs generally work on council tax and fines.

You don't have to speak to anyone at your door but you must contact them by phone or writing and make some kind of payment. Seek some advice from CAB or the Debt Advice Trust

mark
Don't worry. If you have no money, they'll just take your TV, computer, Hifi etc. They'll then sell this at a knock down price and you'll be clear of debt and have no baggage.
