Yes, its fantastic compared to the rest of America! I work for a credit card bank and most customers I see can barely keep up with their minimum payments, let alone put any money away. I'm guessing that you live a very frugal lifestyle, 24k is a lot of money to save by yourself in such a short amount of time. As you can see by the recent rash of foreclosures, Americans do have a MAJOR problem with living beyond their means.

My husband and I are in our early 20's and we have about 20k stashed away in a high interest savings account (a 4.5% annual interest yield). We're planning a move from Delaware to Alabama once he graduates from college this May so we need easy access to our money for living expenses just in case we don't find jobs right away.

Keep up the good work!

DebtFree
sure, it's not bad. especially if you are debt free...

most people your age have tons of debt and NO money.

good job :)

keep saving... save like crazy... look into growth stock mutual funds.

Great start. Presuming you don't have big debts, 1) Don't ask for advice - you already know more than most advisors: 2) Try to save 10% of gross per year. 3) Don't get scared out of your funds because of a declining market. People who switch funds to follow trends and time the market are the ones that never beat the average.

itsjunglepat
How did you switch from Grade 12 to age 26 in your previous questions?

Pablo Ernesto
yea my frend, but see other option...good luky

Jim
Yes make sure the funds are not volatile so you don't loose ground with the stock market.

orizano
good job! now, do some research re diversification: you don't want all your eggs in one basket.
keep saving. minimize debt. try to put the max into your job's 401k, and once it's there, spread it around - it doesn't have to stay in that company's stock. and when you change jobs, roll it over and bring the 401k with you.

DON'T DRINK!
Will you marry me?
