At 13, you are old enough to babysit, mow lawns, wash cars, do odd jobs and run errands for neighbors. Print up some flyers and distribute them in your neighborhood (to people you know). |

if you are a responsible person, you can do simple things such as babysitting, etc.
you can also tell your mother that you need incentivation... ie. if you make an A on your next quiz or test, you can get 5 dollars, or 10 dollars.... try it!
but NEVER steal or cheat. and stay in school ;) |

First of all, you shouldn't need that much "stuff" when you're 13. Secondly, if you want to make money so bad, the only way I'd see fit for a person of your age is to get a babysitting job.
Or, you could just accept the fact that not everyone is rich. I didn't get "a lot of things" when I was 13, but as I got older (and got jobs) I could choose to do what I want with the money I made.
Wait a few years, do well in school, go to college, and you will eventually be able to buy all the "things" you want. |

Yeah, life is very expensive and your are doing good to relief your mum by trying to earn some bucks yourself.
Try mowing grass for neighbors, washing cars, distributing flyers for your local supermarket, sell some stuff you don't want anymore at car boot sales, distribute newspapers, help in the garden, clean swimming pools, - there is lots of stuff a boy your age can do. I di it all myself and made some handsome cash.

Babysit, mow yards, pull weeds, run errands for neighbors, take in ironing, walk or bathe dogs. Most states won't allow you to be legally hired for a regular paying job at your age (unless it's a family business), but there are plenty of things you can do for a little extra cash. Make sure your mom is agreeable to any undertaking, and that she checks out any folks that you may want to work for. Your safety is more important than the money! I think it's great that you are willing to earn the money you want, and developing a hard-working entreprenurial spirit at such a young age guarantees that you will go far in life. Ask her if you can do chores around the house for a weekly allowance. If not, try babysitting for your neighbors and family members. Or let them know that you can do things like clean their house or rake the yard for money. |
