Emery | I am sooo in debt? |
OK so I just moved across the country and I had myself financially ready to do this. But then...BOOM! It all hit me at once. Problems just started coming from every direction and all of a sudden I am behind on two credit cards and my checking account. I am totally plagued by this but as I am new to this state I am not yet working and I wont be til next week. I understand what is going to happen to me if I dont pay them soon but does anyone have any advice as far as getting the credit card companies or banks to hold on for me or is it just too late? |

I agree with Jonday_99.
Most credit card companies, banks and other loan companies will work with you if you just talk to them.
Let them know your situation and let them know you'll send them as much as you can as soon as you have money. You may still incur late fees and may even still have it reported on your credit as late, but by calling them and being up front with them, you may prevent them from sending your bills to collections, which is when the real trouble starts.
If you do make any promises to them, make sure to follow through. If you say you'll send them $100 next week, be sure to do it. They make notes of those things and if they can look back in the notes to see you've made good on your promises, they're more likely to continue working with you.
After all, this is really all the "get out of debt" companies do on your behalf. |

Call them immediately and explain your position. That's all you really can do if you don't have the cash but if you do I am definitely sure they will work something out for you but your credit will be hurt by this. |

I would call the credit card companies immediately and explain your situation. Tell them that you are starting a job in two weeks and will be able to start paying off the minimum when you get your first check, which won't be for another two weeks after that as most companies don't pay you a check right off the bat. Tell them you want to work with them because you take your credit very seriously and you are eager to pay as soon as you are able to. Then set up a simple payment plan with them that won't cost you an arm and a leg every time you get your paycheck.
This is to pad some time for you so you don't panic. And stick to the paying them off as soon as you can. Send the minimum as soon as you can and diligently pay a little over the minimum as you work. |

Big buisness such as credit card companies don't care one bit about your personal problems. they won't do anything to slow down the process. They will tack on their late fees and such.
One strong advice do NOT go to any of those CASH ADVANCE and CHECK&gO places, you will get yourself in deeper trouble. When you start your job just try to make your payments as soon as you are able.
Stay away from lenders ........it's all a big gimmick.
They are there to make MONEY, not to help you. |
