Is there anybody out there who would be prepared to lend me £100,000 over twenty years with repayments of £150 per week. I know that this would only give £56,000 profit back to you, but I can't afford a mortgage and am struggling for options.

Hillary - it was a joke, like anyone would really hand over 100K on here, LMAO.
12.99 - try telling that to a mortgage lender. It's all about the way in which the figures are presented. If I went to a mortgage lender and said I can afford £150 a week then no probs, but when they ask what is your income and what deposit do you have, then the answer is a big fat "NO" |

Look into schemes in your area, called shared-ownership. Where someone (for example the bank, or housing association) own a percentage of the property and you own the other percentage, with a chance of buying more shares as your wages go up. |

The real problem here is that the price of houses represent an asset bubble that needs bursting. Don't even think of buying until they have dropped by at lest 20%, ideally more.

totally understand where yo are coming from a joint mortgage quote told me and my partner we could borrow 100,000 but where i live you cant get a 1 bed top floor flat for less than 135,000 plus you have to have extra money for all solictors fees etc etc. Luckily one of us is now classed as a key worker so we may be able to get help with this but shared ownership is a good idea but the total you pay cant be more than 30% of gross earnings so good luck |

If you afford £600 a month payments, you can afford plenty of mortgages/loans.
Added - How about No deposit mortgages, they exist these days dont they...I dont know much about them, but they do exist. |

Im in the same boat - im p*ssed off with renting cos im just basically paying/buying a house for someone else.
Plus i've just heard that the banks aren't doing 100% mortgages anymore!! How the hell can anyone save for a deposit when rent is so high?
Why dont you put your name down on the council list - yeah you'll be waiting for about 5 years but if you get one you dont ever need to get a mortgage. Thats what i've done.
Also they are talking of a recession in this country which could be a good thing for people like us as house prices will go down (probebly not by much though)
Also try and see if there are any affordable homes being built in your area. There are some being built where I live for £75k (2 bedrooms) |
