I feel so angry for some reason. I am pregnant and I am in debt and now I have to pay for health insurance?
My husband works as a D.J. and Restaurant Server and makes pretty good money. I work 30 hours a week in retail and don't make a whole lot of money. We have seperate bank accounts and all of his money is hard to keep track of because it is always in cash. We want to buy a house, but the only thing is we will only get approved for what we claim on tax returns which isn't much. I guess I just feel angry because I feel like I have to ask my husband for money. I spend all of mine on bills. I feel so frustrated and sometimes wished that I married a guy who was more secure financially and had a job with good health insurance. I don't know what to do or how to relieve my stress and anger.

well now you are making me angry! i cant believe you just said that you wish you married a guy who was more secure financially. wtf? maybe he wishes he married a woman who made good money instead of laying around knocked up crying about her stupid pregnancy.

If you don't have a lot of documentable income, maybe you should look into something like WIC, or another government assistance like Medicaid for insurance. They will cover your child and you while you are pregnant.

Wicked Good
Why on earth do you have separate bank accounts??? This is your husband and he should be paying his fare share of the bills. And you can't not report all of his income on tax returns and expect to be able to use the income you are frauding the government from for a house loan.

BUT here is the thing he needs to step up. You need to tell him how you feel. If you can't talk to your husband who can you talk to? It will get worse with a baby if you don't open up some communication! If you don't you are going to explode with your stress and anger and then where will you be.

Hate to be blunt but how do you expect to raise a child on the small money you guys make? Children cost a fortune.

If you are not making enough money you should babysit other peoples kids! My mom did that for a while she made some pretty good money! Especially if the person you are babysitting for is rich!

"Simply Me" is right about the WIC and insurance. Tell your man to start documenting his income if you ever want a house, and unfortunately, you shoulda thought about this before you married the guy....

My man works in the restaurant industry too, we have two kids, and he documents all income no matter how small the paycheck is. I knew this going into the deal. Maybe you should see about getting yourself a better job cause the chances of you changing your husband are probably gonna be slim. Any office job that's full time will have health insurance you can buy for your whole family - which is how we do things. In the mean time, contact your county human services department about getting on WIC and Medical Assistance.

You've started the process by talking about it. The next step is to engage the person who should hear it but take into consideration he may feel just as bad about the situation you are both in. Also I would keep the bit about your sometimes wish you had married someone else out of it... unless you want to make that a reality.

Good luck.

Honey sounds like you are stressed out! Being pregnant is a job in itself..you need to find a way to relax, perhaps a nice massage, this is a great way to loosen up, keep your muscles relaxed and also calm the baby... don't forget the stress and anger you feel is sent to the baby as well. There are alot of programs that help with health insurance and other money programs that you should look into.

Good luck

You really need to just have a heart to heart with your husband. It is built in you to want a secure home for your children. I think it gets more profound (that instinct) as a baby approaches. Have a 2-way conversation, not a fight.... it is easy to have a fight about finances in marriage. Just talk to the man, I am sure he will understand... and if he doesn't then it is an opportunity for him to grow. Enough hardships will teach him if he is stubborn... sometimes some never learn. Most do though. Good Luck.
