Checks have what is called a "Stale date" which is 6 months from the date that they are written. Banks will not cash them for you.. You will have to contact your employer & request replacement checks. |

They are stale dated after 1 year, a financial institution would return them if they caught the date. Your best bet is to go to the old work and request that they reissue you a check. |

Your best bet is to go the bank from where the checks are drawn.
Otherwise, it's general bank policy--if a check is more than 12 months old it has to be reissued by the signer before you can cash or deposit it.

Odds are you will have to request updated checks. |

No. Check are usually only good for about 6 months. You may want to check with the issuing bank to ask them the same question. It's unlikely that the original employer will want to re-issue the checks but you can try to ask them if all else fails. If you do ask them to re-issue, I would do it in writing. |

Probably not. Most checks say void after a certain time period (usually 90 days) but you could always give it a shot. |

wow you may want to check and see if the check has a expiration date. |

The same thing happened to my sister a few weeks ago. Except the paycheck was a month old. You probably cannot cash them unless you can get updated checks or something like that. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure you might still be able to deposit them. I would contact the bank and try to see your options. Sorry if Im no help. |

Many companies list an expiration date. 3 months, 6 months, a year etc.. Unchased checks cause accounting grief.
Make sure you cash before it expires.
You should have an interest bearing checking account and want to deposit as early as possible to start the interest clock ticking.

MANY PAYROLL CHECKS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR A LIMITED TIME. CHECK TO SEE IF THIS IS TRUE IN YOUR CASE. IF YOU WORK FOR THE SAME COMPANY THEY MIGHT ISSUE NEW CHECKS. BUT I WANT TO KNOW IF YOU ARE FOR REAL. 2 YEAR OLD CHECKS. EITHER THE WORLDS BIGGEST AIRHEAD OR YOU'RE PUTTING ME ON. |

ツ jazzy.

THEY WOULD EVENTUALLY EXPIRE. CHECK AT THE BANK THOUGH TO SEE IF THEY WILL LET YOU. |

No, most banks won't let you cash a check that's over sixth months old for a lot of reasons. Such as the funds for your check may no longer be in the account or that the account that they would come from doesn't exist and now your bank is short the money. |

Being that the checks are over two years old you would need to go back to the issuer and get them reissued. The standard range for cashing a check is 90 days unless otherwise stated on the check.
Why in the world would you not cash your paychecks? |

You'd need to get the company to issue you new checks, by presenting them with the uncashed old checks. Checks are not 'forever' and most banks will cash them ONLY if they are six months old or less. You could try to cash them, though ... some banks will honor older checks if they are 'found' after some time and the 'bank account' on which they were drawn is still open. |

most checks are voided after six months. |

Probably not, but they do have to give you that money! |

if it doesn't say anything about expiring, you should be fine. Sometimes it says "invalid after 90 days" or something.
By the way, why would you not cash them right away? I know that when I get my paycheck, I need it so bad that I don't waste a moment going to the bank! |

Nope. The check should have a date after which they are void. |

If there is no invalidating disclaimer on the check, yes you can; but don't spend the proceeds until you are sure the check clears and the account is open. |

be sure and check that they don't say anywhere that they must be cashed by a certain date. Many business checks will have written on them that they must be cashed by so many days after they are written.
If they don't, then heck yeah. Cash them at the bank they are written on so you get cash. I don't know if I would put them in my bank account, unless you are willing to wait to use those funds until you are sure the checks cleared. |
