No, it will bounce back and you'll owe 3000 plus a over withdraw fee, and if its too a company then usually they charge for bounced checks as well.
This was a dumb question. |

If you write a cheque to someone, knowing that the funds are not there....it's called fraud. |

Not in a million years without a massive overdraft protection account and probably not then. |

Not unless you have a line of credit, or one incredible history with them and multiple accounts.. I have a $5K line of credit with my bank that can be used if we were to go in the hole when a check is cashed, but my line of credit would be hit, and I would owe the bank and would start owing interest. |

That would be check fraud, and you could spent along time in a 10x10 cell. Also, it won't go through. |

as soon as the person u give it do deposits it into their account or cashes it but if u have $0 in ur account it will overdraft ur account each time their bank trys to cash it through ur bank, plus the person who puts it into their bank it will mess up their account also. so word to the wise dont write a check for money that u dont have in the account. |

If you have no money in your bank, and no line of credit to cover it, it will get returned.
It doesn' matter where you bank...the rules are all the same for cheques. |

It's possible that the bank could honor your check, but I don't think so for that much. It'll probably just bounce. |

It entirely depends on your account with Chase Banking! If you have something set up that covers an overdraft to that extent then of course it would be covered, and you would have to pay Chase Banking back as per your predetermined agreement with them.
If you don't, then the check will bounce like a rubber ball, and you have committed check fraud. Check fraud is committed when you knowingly do not have the available funds in the account and write a check for any amount. Most states have varying levels of check fraud based on the amount of the fraud. In the case of $3,000.00 that would in most states be a Class-A felony, and will get you a rather hefty court fine, restitution made to whomever you wrote the check to, and a chunk of your life spent in a jail cell, unless you are lucky enough to get probation from a judge for a first time offense. Judges normally have become rather unforgiving for this type of offense. |
