Be VERY, VERY wary.

I've had these, and they are so compelling.

If you're hard-up, and someone sends you mail telling you, you've got money owing to you, it is so tempting to answer.

I have always deleted these things, simply because if it sounds too good to be true, then most certainly is too good to be true.

If you didn't enter a prize draw, or a competition, you haven't won anything!

If you haven't sent any money anywhere, and aren't expecting any from anyone, then you're not owed anything.

Usually, these things are 'hooks' to catch you with, and 'phishing' is the name of the game!

Personally, I'd delete it and move on. I have to say, I've never heard of pch(UK), but it doesn't mean they don't exist, and it doesn't mean they're not genuine, but honestly, do YOU think so?

If you call them, NEVER give any information about bank accounts, credit cards etc. NEVER give them your address, or phone number, date of birth, or mother's maiden name, nor anything else that can be used to track down any of your identity.

I had this issue with a scam company called SIM, and their message were always couched in terms of SIM credits, and SIM points, implying they were to do with my mobile phone!!

A little bit of research, tracked them down to Star Intensive Marketing - in New York, but wow! was it so compelling.

Be VERY, VERY wary, my friend.

no those are all fake if you did not sign up for anything and give information they could steal your identity....

Goonhilda
This is a scam email trying to get your banking or personal information so that they can take your money and/or identity.

If you didn't sign up for it, and they just sent you an email, how could it possibly be legitimate?

They're all fakes.

idk how to find out its legitimate, but everyone gets those emails so assume its not. you could reply and ask for a phone number and if they don't answer with one don't do it, i mean how is someone in the UK going to send you money for a contest you don't know about and didn't enter in a country you've never been too (assumingly)

Fleur
Rule of thumb: don't ever try to collect the prize for a "competition" you don't remember entering. Sadly, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

I would bet that the phone number is premium-rate, it could cost you a lot of money to call it!

Redbrd
Go to your bank and ask them. My bank had warnings about these scams. It is spam. Those people should be arrested and would be, but they do not live in the US or any other developed nation. They live in third world countries where they will not be prosecuted.

We are all screwed
its a scam they are all scams my husband gets 10 a day

Daniel J
By now you must realize it's a scam!!!

Rob M
To start with did you enter any contest for pch(UK) maybe the publishers clearing house for UK? If you did not then it definitely is a scam. I would be very careful that you don't do anything to send them any type of personal info about your bank account, or any personal info. Just remember that if it seams too good to be true, then it probably isn't true.
You can also talk to your local police dept and ask them if this is a scam or not.

Good Luck and BE CAREFUL

Mr Crusty
..You're a winner!

Just send me your banking details so that i can send you your $1 million!..

something like that?...

It's a scam.

I got an e-mail too about 10 days ago. I contacted the real PCH who advised me to let the FBI know and alert them also if I get any more mail. I got another from the same people today, telling me I had won 36,500 uk. I am from the UK originally. Unfortunately they also asked for a scan of either my driver's licence or my passport (I DONT THINK SO) and to send to another person in their Company over $500 dollars to get this cheque over to me in Canada.... I am forwarding this latest e-mail to PCH and also to the FBI agency they requested I contact. How mean can these people be - I am sure that many "not in the know" people have been fooled by this - it is time that we took a stand and got these people caught......
