There is case law that applies to situations like this and sometimes you don't have to give the money back.
I think you have to prove that you had no idea the money wasn't yours (sounds too good to be true eh?) and that it was within keeping of your usual banking arrangements to have that amount of money and spend it.
(I'm a bit rusty on case law so do we have any one who can back me up here?) |

you better start returning stuff to the stores
and in the future realize that nothings free and question all free money that you find Oo_Oo |

You probably shouldn't have spent the money then. Now that it is done try talking to the bank. They may be willing to make payment arrangements. |

This is not a question, but it also is unlikely. I can't believe that you're responsible for paying it back if it was put in by mistake. |

they can't lock you up for that, the only thing they can do is take you to court most likely the small claims court, in which case if they prove that you have spent the money they will ask for the money back, court fees and other fees such as solictors but you may be vaivid from these as you are unemployed. The best advice for you mates is to pay them back try to sort out some kind of agreement out asap dont leave it to the last minutes as they will refer you to court. |

bollocks to it, you only live once, i would have and actually have done the same thing. hope you enjoyed every penny.
dont worry about it. they cant lock you up, eventually you will have to pay it back i suppose but you could offer £5 a month, if you make an offer i think you will find that by law they have to accept it. anyway what the hell did you spend a grand on in one day!!!???? |

yup, as fellow answerers have said, your in the wrong. the bank (as everyone else) can make errors. as you were knowingly taking money that was not yours, and i assume the bank has asked for it back, you gotta pay up. |

good luck.offer the bank that you will pay back this money at £4 per month.you could be on a winner because you have made an offer it is unlikely they will take you to law over this. |

stop freaking him out people!
you should talk to the bank about making payments
or somewhere where you can get a loan from
or an insurance company
do some research whether or not you are liable for the money |
|

Kalahari_Surfer

well you know it was not your money so you are responsible for paying it back |

You should not have to pay it back. It was not your fault it was a mistake. Someone gave it to you accidentley. Sounds unfair to me. |
