Buy something substantive that will give you pleasure for a long time - such as a really nice jacket, good leather bag, new electronic gadget, classes where you can meet nice people (dance, etc)... in other words, splurge, but on something that will give pleasure for a long time. I once bought a fur-lined (fur lining was removeable for warmer weather) leather jacket that cost me 200$ when that was alot for me... comparable jackets were selling for 4-600$. Anyway, I had that jacket for more than a decade and it gave me pleasure every time I wore it.
So something like that - you will enjoy and use for a long time but it still qualifies as a splurge.
Have fun shopping!

considering the financial issues that I am facing I would suggest that you put it in a savings account and keep it for a rainy day. |

Save what you do not HAVE to spend with in one week for things like basic bills: food, rent, set payments, gas and oil for your car, your children (if you have any), your wife (if you have one, which I doubt or she would tell you how to spend that money....lol).
But if you must spend:
Take a kid to a ball game, donate to a homeless shelter then volunteer to help serve at a meal there, plant some trees, buy something special for a patient in the hospital and deliver it yourself (visit them for a few minutes when making the delivery - you might be making a new best friend), Take pizzas to homeless area for dinner - you'd be surprised how many people $150 will feed - then eat pizza with them.
I guess what I am trying to say is use that money to make someone else's day better; but, the best way to help others is to give of yourself also. If you make an honest effort it will become addicting! |

Buy GOLD! your 150 is going to be worthless in a few years |

Well other than the obvious option (sending it my way of course ::lol::), I say buy a small amount of gold for investment purposes. Gold is the only commodity I regularly invest in, although investing in gold when it's at such a high point seems to defeat the purpose. If you didn't want to spend it all right now I'd say set it aside to purchase gold when the price drops again. Just as an example, I purchased my first bullion (a small 10 gram gold bar from Pamp Suisse) several years ago for $170.00. I sold it a short while back for $350.00. ^_^
However if you want to blow the money you have on something totally frivolous, forget the touchy-feely stuff and blow it on a wild night out... or... well since $150 doesn't seem to get that much anymore with gas prices being so high and all, blow it on a wild hour out. ::lol::
Or be creative... ^_^ Rent a sleek Italian 3 pc. suit (I have no idea how much that would be, but I'd guess it's not much for a one-night rental) and a nice car (I rented a convertible overnight for $105.59), then find a VIP party with free spirits (yes, double meaning there), a jacuzzi and a bunch of gorgeous eligible women in attendance, and then invite yourself. Wear the suit, pull up in your sweet new convertible, bluff your way in, and enjoy the night. Act like a total upper class jerk, and act extremely offended every time someone asks if they know you. Then enjoy a $100k evening for $150! ::lol:: |

Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium graphing calculator. Get hardware 4.0 with OS 3.10 installed. It's a very nice calculating machine that runs on four AAA batteries. 16 MHz Motorola CPU, 2.7 meg flash ROM, 188 kilobyte RAM, serial I/O port and USB ports for calculator to calculator and calculator to computer data transmission. Programs in TI-BASIC, C, and assembly language. Nice user interface system, too. And the screen resolution is 100x160 pixels.
You can buy external keyboard for it, but you don't need one. Since you can upload from calculator to computer, you can put your TI-BASIC programs online for other people to use. Or you can sell them, if you think they're that good. All this power, in the palm of your hand.
The TI-89T keeps your programs, functions, data tables, and text files alive when you turn the power off, and when you change the four AAA batteries, there's a backup silver oxide battery that keeps your files safe.
One minor contrary: teachers don't like the gaming and cheating possibilities.
If you buy on eBay, you might can get one for under $100, but be sure to have the seller check the hardware and OS versions by turning the calculator on and pressing APPS, F1, 3 and reading the dialog box that pops up. |
