keep a piggy bank for anything less than a dollar. Never use change to buy anything, always keep it for your piggy bank. Eventually, you will be so impressed with the weight of the piggy bank, that you will be better motivated to save money. |

Tear up your credit cards. Buy only with cash. Take 10% of every paycheck and put ity into a savings account. Before you know it you'll have some money. |

I would approach my employer and make an adjustment to the W-4 form. This is the document that indicates how many dependents you have (Employee's Withholding Allowance). On line 6, there is a blank for "Additional if any" Put $25 or $30 here. This means the employer will deduct your regular payroll taxes plus the amount you put on line 6. When you file your tax return, you will have paid a lot more in than you should have and you will get a large tax refund check back at the end of the year.
The down side to this is that your money is not drawing interest, but the upside is that you are saving money with no effort on your part at all. It is taken out before you are paid, and you can NOT get the money back until you file your tax return. This should guarantee a large chunk of change at the end of the year. |

I have similar problem. The money that you spend, split in two. Spend half, save half and stick to it! It works! |

Start trying to save $1, $5 or $10 every two week and purposely hide it. You will be surprise how you can save in 6 months. Do not touch it what so ever.

It's impossible to do both at the same time unless you can really budget yourself. When saving becomes more important to you than the things you buy, you will start saving. Just realize that when you save money you can still buy all those things you want (until you actually do buy something). I used to have a problem with it and I started out by actually hiding money. Then I auto deposited money in a savings account and tried to go longer and longer without touching it. Now instead of getting excited about buying things I get excited looking at my account growing and knowing things will always be okay. Good Luck ! |

Each time you get ready to buy something stop and think for a hot second "can I do without this" or "I didn't have this before I came in here." That has helped me to put that item right down where I picked it up from! |
