i get payed 50 dollars a day for baby sitting a a 4 yr old girl, 6 yr old boy and 8 yr old boy at their house over the summer. easy money i baby sit 3 times a week so thats 150 a week. uh so yes u should get paid!! |

that depends do u live there with them? if you do how old are youand if old enough do you pay rent? if you dontlive there and go there everyday to watch htem then yes absolutely you should be paid..however if you live there with them and pay no rent or any of the bills and you are over 18 no u shouldnt..but if you are under 18 and you are watching them so the parents can work then u shold get something out of it if they can afford it otherwise helpout its not killing you to do so..if youwatch them for them to "go out" then YES you should be getting paid |

yeah i think you should ask for something. You didn't have the kids. I understand responsibility but they aren't your kids. You shouldn't be foreced to do it. They should reward you some how. Babysitting sucks. I've done it. |

you should be getting paid for watching the kids that are not your siblings. watching your 7 year old sister is doing your part to help your family and wouldn't necessarily call for getting paid, depending on what other jobs you do around the house and how much money is available after your family's basic needs are met.
If your family is getting something in return from the family of the other kids, then that factors in too. Its good to be useful to the family and helpful. Perhaps you can get an allowance or something if there is no money changing hands for the child care. |

If the kids' parents keep letting you do it, that means you're great at what you do and I certainly think you should get paid.

It's defo not easy looking after children of those ages. I used to child mind and get £10 per hour for it... |

I think if the kids aren't your siblings you should definitely be getting paid! Depending on where you live, for that many kids you could charge anywhere from $8 - $18 per hour (in CA babysitters get paid very well!). If you're babysitting for a family friend and don't feel comfortable asking for a whole lot of money, at least ask for $5 per hour, letting them know that you've been slighted money making opportunities the past 2 summers to help them out, and you may have to let them get another sitter if you can't make some money. That's a lot of kids to be watching for free! |

i dont think you should for your sister but for the other kids...heck yeah you should..i did the same thing when i was young,and i got taken advantage of all the time because i was way too nice...if they hired a babysitter they would be paying alot,and they know that..i mean at least ask for something... |

Are they strangers or family members?You don't get paid for caring for younger siblings or cousins,that's considered "Chores"; to help care for the house you live in or the car you ride in that your parents pay for and you use.Your parents may be trying to help somebody in a tough situation,who has no one to care for their children.This is considered a christian act of charity because God sees your good deeds and he is the only one to repay you.He has many gifts like everlasting life in a paradise that humans only dream about. |

I think you do to0. I babysit for my son and daughter in law because their oldest boy is autistic and they pay me. They don't pay me much, because they don't have much money, but the fact that they do so tells me how much they appreciate my effort. Talk to whoever it is you're babysitting for and tell them you feel unappreciated and would like some financial appreciation. It can't hurt. |

Absolutely!
No one should expect you to care for four children for free (even if one of them is your sister!) The parents of these children are taking advantage of you so they can have free daycare. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I think at a minimum you should be paid $10/per day per child ($40 per day) and maybe more. I pay my 18 y/o son more than that to watch my dogs when I'm on vacation. |
