i am a young 23 yr. mother of 3 youngest 8months i have no job i got laid-off its slow season here(usvi)i moved back home i live with my grandparents an aunt&her daughter i just finally got out of an abusive relationship now i am broke i got credit card bill,hospital bills and a loan to pay back i am really struggling this is not a scheme or con to get easy money,i really really need it i need help my boys live with their dad now cause i cant support them and i am at risk of having to let my daugter go as well i dont want to do this please is there any one out there who can help me i wont be like this forever but for now it really sucks im going back to get my ged in september .please dont feel sorry for me but i really need the help .they say ask and you shall recieve!i feel like shi* for asking though but i need it. |

Get that GED and Concentrate on finding a job that will fit for now not a career choice but a job that will help take the pressure off of G-ma & G-pa. Maybe at the begining of the year (2007) you could return to school to get a higher education. Keep in touch with your boys as much as you posibly can let them know that their Mom loves them NO MATTER WHAT. Reassure them that you are working as hard as you can to bring them back home. Use your kids as your focal point and fix your ambitions to them. Make them the reason you are going to suceed at this. Help them to understand that this is not their fault and that you and the person you were with had changed your feelings for one another. Go and talk to your pastor and ask for his assistance. Set goals for your future and know that reaching those goals is by far the most important thing in your life because of your kids. Pray. Ask God to help you in guidence, in strength, in love for life, and for protection for your kids. My love and prayers are with you |

Jesus love,the first thing to do is to quietly make an appointment to see someone in your local social services,I'm sorry,but you need to get started.Do this as soon as you can,if you don't know how or who,go to your nearest hospital and ask to speak to a nurse or a doctor,tell them you just need 5min of their time.If you don't start helping yourself,believe me,no-one else will!You've got internet access,explore,if you do nothing,you will hold it against yourself forever.Great things come from small starts,get up girl,you're worth it,but get out there and ask for some help,(outside of the family),DO IT SOON,IF NOT NOW!

Being 23 with three kids and leaving a abusive relationship. The only help I can and will give to that situation is to recommend making therapy a top priority. If not for yourself for your children. This is not an easy answer as there will be obstacles, but this should be a priority. |

my suggestions are as follows:
look for another job, if its hard to find a new job from your place, then you have to move on to a place where there is a high demand for workers, dont choose the type of work as of this moment, as long as it is decent, what matters is that you will earn and its temporary only
to settle your bills, you can borrow from your very close friends and or relatives as you are financially down right now, im sure they will understand your situation and will let you pay it when able.
you have to start spending within your means, that is, dont buy anything which is not a necessity to save the money and use it in another important activity/need
pray and ask for god's guidance....
on the top of all these turmoil, the positive thing is that you get rid of an abusive relationship and that you are given another new life to start with, it may look like starting from a scratch, but im definite that it will make you a stronger and wiser person

Congratulations about getting away from the abuse. Don't ever go back. You may need to protect your kids if their father is abusive. May I recomend Al-anon or codependents anonymous for some good support.
Apply for aide, there's lots around. First start with Social Security. Ask them about SSI, Women Infants and Children (WIC), food stamps,
Get a list of shelters and recovery places, they are a good source for local info like availability of food boxes, job training and assistance, child care, churches and organizations that will help you... |
