depends on the terms and conditions of the contract you signed up to when you agreed to buy the car and put down the deposit. Its worth checking the small print of the agreement you signed but I would generally say yes you lose the deposit |

After 8 days, it should be possible for the dealership to cancel the order, chances are very good car has not been started yet. Therefore, they should (in good faith) be willing to return your deposit, IF you have a valid reason for needing to undo the deal. Just be sure to tell them that when you are able to purchase a vehicle, you will return to them, and then DO SO !!! |

If you ask nicely, they may refund it as a goodwill gesture, but from their point of view, they have to cover any costs that they have incurred as a result of your order. |

I am sure you will lose it but as suggested appeal to the good will of the seller but business is business.If you cant get it back try to get them to hold it on record for a possible future purchase.. Good luck |

Any time someone puts up a deposit to order a car and then backs out, they lose their deposit. |

Yes, that is what a deposit is about, unless it was a private deal? If you signed then you have had it.
I did this on a much smaller scale, birthday party and wrote a cheque. I asked the bank to cancel this for me, they agreed but when they found out it was a deposit, they settled it!
You will have to take the car or accept the £500 loss, bad news. |
