make your car payment. assuming you had the money before to make the car payment that would have made anyways if you didn't win the money, you can use that extra $150 as an overpayment. So that's $150 extra you're paying to your car loan that's paying down your principle rather than interest. Out of all the things you mentioned, it is the only thing you have financed. so in the end you're actually paying you car off faster and saving $$$.
If that's not feasible, use it to fix your car or as a treat for prom. |

Financially, it makes the best sense to pay off your existing debts. Your car payment charges you interest, which just keeps adding to your debt. So you get more bang for your buck by paying off debt and avoiding that extra interest.
If your debt is modest and manageable, and you don't have any pressing needs, then splurge and treat yourself for prom. Prize money isn't part of your regular budget, so it's okay to treat yourself to something outside your budget now and then, if you can keep it reasonable. |

If it's a minor dent on the car, forget it. Put it in the savings account. Get into the habit of putting money away everytime you get paid. My wife and I have been doing it for 35 years. |

i would tell ya what is the most imporant thing on that list right now? and then then you think about it and pick do that one. cause that money was brought to you for some reason so just think what it might have been for. dont do nothing stubied with it no drink or drugs its a gift from some one that is watching over you!! |

I would either fix your car, since that would be the most responsible and beneficial to you in the long run...OR spend it on prom. Since you weren't expecting the $, you'll be able to splurge a little on the once in a lifetime event! =)
Edit: or split it between 2 things! put $75 toward fixing the car, and $75 toward prom! or any combination of things that you'd like. We can give you all the suggestions in the world, but what you do with it in the end is your decision. After all..it's your $$! |
