Wow. How do you manage that? 1300 is just my rent. Are you able to pick up a second job? Or perhaps find a job in your field?
Have you tried budgeting and couponing to help ends meet?
www.frugalhacks.com
www.mycoupons.com~you'll find many printable coupons and great freebies via online or at stores (For example, Walgreens this week has a deal where you can get 3 packages of diapers for FREE)
Try out www.bzzagent.com & Mypoints.com to earn some "extra income via gift cards"
Is there any way to reduce your tithing just for the time being can you explain to your church that you are going through a financial hardship? |

I commend you for your faith to tithe with such a tight budget. May the Lord provide you the blessings like in Malachi 3:10.
Let me point you to another verse which has helped me greatly when I was laid off and could not find work for almost 3 years: Habakkuk 3: 17-19.
I am fortunate in that I get about $2300 after all taxes and deductions. There's only 2 of us, my kids are grown and gone from home, so we get by pretty well. Not saving anything, but not going into debt either. |

My husband and I make more than that and it's just two of us. But I grew up in a family that made next to nothing to I can understand what you're going through. Good luck to you!
Maybe try getting a second part-time job. If there's anything you don't absolutely need (cable, internet, expensive cell phone plans) cancel it for now until you're making more money. |

First off, bless your heart. I respect that fact that you are actually trying to make it without living off the gov't. I live off of $1500 a month just by myself and I have a hard time getting by sometimes. I can't imagine what you are going through. I have a great job with the state, but sometimes the pay sucks. Sometimes getting started on your feet straight out of college can be difficult. Have you tried searching for a new job on careerbuilder? or monster.com? I don't know how your hours are at work, but you could always consider getting another job?
Good luck! |

Well my situation is much better...but I give you credit for being at least being able to live of that much. Good luck! Everyone is struggling these days!
Wish I had better advice to give. |

Yikes. We make about $10,400 a month before taxes. We invest a lot in retirement accounts and 529 for our kids. We probably take home about $5,000 a month after taxes, deductions, and investments. |

Guess you will have to take on job #2 on a part time basis to supplement that income. Did that many years ago by doing part time work and later going into a business which was foreign to us. But numbers are numbers and business is business regardless of the service or product. This succeeded and turned out to be a great pension fund, college fund, vacation provider and old age security asset. |

I have a Bachelors Degree and 15+ years of experience. At the moment I am jobless. I moved here a year ago and have been unable to secure a teaching job. I am living off what is left of my savings. Careful planning on expenses and purchasing only what is needed...not wanted...is a way to hopefully survive until a REAL job is obtained. |

I feel your pain. I also have a degree and I used to have a good job $75K a year but the company downsized and closed their calif division when i was 2 mos pregnant I have two other kids, teenagers. Try and get a job when you are pregnant and my spouse wouldn't pick up the slack cus he needed to be the stay at home dad. We are now divorced. As a result of custody issues and having to pick my teenagers from school i had to make adjustment in my hours and as a result the company i contracted for didnt renew my contract last march. This job market is terrible and I have single parent child care issues. I managed to pick up some part time work and Im still looking but i had no choice but to apply for state aid. I also have a degree, but its hard to find work also when you are overqualified because employers dont want to take a risk that they will invest in you and then you leave when something better comes along. i am not proud of going on public assistance, but i figure i paid into it for 20+ years isnt that what it is there for? FYI you can make up to about $2300 per month for a family of 4 and qualify for medi-cal and food stamps. I did not know this ahead of time. One caveat, you can not have any more than $2000 in any tangible assest to qualify, ie no 401K etc. That all went to attorneys fees anyway. Jeez if i was making that kind of money the way i've pared down my expenses i wouldnt need the help! I also tithe to my church. things arent great but i have a roof over my head and food on the table.
$356 for gas/electric/sewage, water, trash/internet/ telephone
$125 auto insurance
$46 homeowners ins
$70 professional dues/insurance
$90 personal debt (pre divorce)
$300 gasoline
$30 diaper/wipes
$130 tithe
If it wasnt for the food stamps we'd starve. Lucky I dont have a house payment, its paid off. I get 90% of all clothes a thrift, try talking teenage girls into that when divorced dads girlfriend makes "bank" and you cant count a "cohabitants" financial contributions as income. Keep on praying the Lord provides |
