Difficult without a cheque guarantee card, but not impossible.
Ring your bank ASAP |

i would contact the bank straight away to report it stolen, you would probably need a cheque guarantee card to back up cheques but I would not take that risk. |

to use it they should have the cheque guarentee card, but they could probably forge one for use, you should have rung the bank the minute you noticed it was gone |

Call your bank or go there to let them know. they will close the acoount and open a new one. if you find the old one, shred it. but if someone tries to use a chck, they will get in big trouble. |

call the bank and tell them right away, that way if someone writes a check from your book you won't be held responsible for the charges. Do it now! If someone does (and they can) use one of your checks and you haven't called you could be held responsible for the amount written and possibly any large overdraft fees from the bank.
Most places check ID for checks, but some places don't... especially online. |

I work for a bank. If you lose your checkbook, you should contact your banking center immediately and at least place a caution on the account or put a lock-out or stop payment on the check numbers in question. The best thing is to close your account altogether and open a new one.
And yes...people can use your checkbook. They can use the routing number and account number to gain access to your money through counterfeited checks. And I'm not talking about using the checks in your checkbook, necessarily...they would use a different name but use your numbers. With the time it would take to post, (depending on where they cash or deposit it) it would give them plenty of time to get money from your account and leave town.
More than anything...contact your banking center and inform them of your situation as soon as possible. You don't want to run the risk of identity theft or being the victim of fraud. |

Let the bank know as soon as possible. They will cancel the whole chequebook, and they will issue a new chequebook for you. As soon as you inform your bank. No one can use your chequebook. Hope this answer will help you. Thanks |

I have a friend who's bank account was completely emptied and even overdrawn after someone had gotten her account # and created their own checks w/a fake name and i.d. You definitely need to contact your bank immediately and take every precaution they can give you. |

yes if using it by mail order as in store would require a cheque guarentee card, you need to cancel with tha bank otherwise you may become liable for any money spent. |

They should not be able to use it. But in case I would call the bank and put a stop on those checks that you didn't write to be on the safe side. For if the use verbal checks than you would be held responsible for not reporting the items lost. |

Hopefully not for your sake because if they can it could be detrimemtal to say the least. They SHOULD not be able to b/c most places require you to provide ID but if they went to a check cashing place like ACE or somewhere where they cash any check for a small fee or percentage then they may be able to write a check out from you to them and sign it - or have someone else sign it- and then cash it on your behave. I would call your bank and let them know that it was lost so they will be on alert. |

Yes you have to call the bank and they will cancel either the account or the checks...because they can use the checks as well as the account information printed on them. A lot of companies take checks over the phone so you have to contact the bank right away to let them know what happened because if you don't and someone uses the checks it will be hard to prove they were stolen and the bank will want to know why you didn't call right away |

They can use it just as easily as they would if you paid someone with a check. All they need to make online payments is your routing number and account number which are both on the bottom of your check. Just to be safe you should notify your bank and do what they tell you to do. |

well yeah if ya dont cancel it. if it does get used the money is easily traced! |
