If you hurt your knee at work then file it on workmen's compensation. It doesn't matter if you've only been working there a week.. if you were hurt on the job they are responsible. Talk to your boss and let them know if they are not willing to file it on their workmen's compensation claim then you will call an attorney. |

It sounds like you may have already gotten yourself treated without knowing how you intended to pay for the care.
Worker's comp is only good if you documented your accident at work at the time it happened and filed a report. Otherwise how would an employer know who was really hurt at work and who was looking to have their medical bills paid for injuries not sustained at work. Think carefully if you chose to follow the poster who advised commenting to your employer your willingness to file a claim against them.
if you documented your accident properly you should be all set, and they will help. But if not, you will be playing a game of "he said, she said". Sure you can hire a lawyer but that does not mean anything unless you win. You can find a lawyer to take almost any case - even if it is a losing hand.
Most states have a reduced care or free care option for people of modest incomes. If you have not already been treated, you may be best served by going to the local hospital and talking with their patient advocate person about financial assistance... or do it for future care until you get coverage.
