No, I didn't know that. Any lender should look at the circumstance, see how much you've paid so far and agree to just pay off the remaining amount with the loan they extend to you. That way you will not be in credit counseling any longer and their underwriters are happy. Just my opinion, but unless you've got a sure thing stock tip or are going to take advantage of the recent foreclosure boon a large loan is not a good idea just now. |

My suggestion to you is to sell what ever you can to try to make the payment without taking on additional loan. Why do you need 5000 when you say your debt is now down to only 3000? It may be difficult since you are in cc to get any loan financed. If you do absolutely need to get some money, see if you can borrow from a friend or family that way you be able to improve your credit situation and won't have the add'l debt on your credit score (which I am sure has suffered). Your friends or family may be more forgiving then the banks. Good luck with this! |

One possibility is Prosper, which is what is known as a P2P lending site. It's basically an auction site like Ebay, except people are bidding on loans. Bidders can bid as little as $50 towards a loan. You fill out a loan application, put up a description of your current income and expenses and what you want the money for, and the maximum rate you'll accept, and then people bid on your loan. There is no guarantee you will get a loan...a lot of requests don't get funded. I don't know what your credit report looks like now...delinquencies in the past will probably hurt you, and depending on your credit rating, the rates could be very high (depending on credit rating, as high as 29%). So it has its downsides, but it may be an option worth looking into. |

I sure would be interested in knowing any answers to this, as well. I filed bankruptcy in 2005, so I have quite a few years to go before I see the light of day and can confidently apply for credit of any kind!
