There are several reasons when you can't get a bank account. Here's two of them>
1. Your too young
2. You have an outstanding debt with another facility Bank. |

As long as you have a passport or drivers license (something with your photo on) and you can provide two forms of other ID - one of which has proof of your address I can't see why you would have difficulty getting a bank account. Some banks expect more or are just really picky about who they take on but i'm sure if you shop around a bit you should get one. If you don't have photo ID your best bet is to apply for a passport. |

You don't say why you cannot get an account. Maybe you are a credit risk? I know people who have lost their bank accounts due to money problems, the bank closed the account and are still chasing for the money - but they were able to open a basic account (with a passbook, so no hole in the wall facility) at a building society without any trouble. Might be worth doing that, then when you have used the building account for a suitable period you can apply for a bank account again. Good Luck! |

i couldn't an account either because of debt, but the co-op bank took me on and you can sleep safely at night knowing their an ethical bank! |

well, if you've tried to open an account and have been denied for whatever reason, i have an option for you. Have someone open an account for you. They can open it in trust for you, and they would be the only signer on the account...you wouldn't be able to withdraw the money, but it would be your money, under FDIC regulations. Or you could open an account where it requires two signatures...you and someone else that you trust. If you're in ChexSystems then the first option is the way to go until you can pay back what you owe. If it's just because your credit isn't the greatest, you may be able to do the second option. Either way, you'll need two forms of ID--a driver's license, state photo ID, passport, or military ID and a credit card, insurance card, voter's or auto registration, or government permit. |

Why can't you get one? Unless you are 18 or older, working, then you can get one at any bank. Just use your 1st check, go to the bank and open an account. You must have a social security card and a photo Id to open one. |

I don't understand why you can't. All you need is proof of Identity, a social security card and some money. My son is 13 and has a savings acct. I am guardian of the act as he is a minor and only had a social security card and I vouched for his ID. I have to sign for withdrawal when needed but he can deposit into it whenever he wants. |

go to nat west bank and ask them to let you open a step account you can use this like a normal account but u cant get a overdraft or bank loan hope this helps |

Try a different bank. Get a savings account. Those are easier to get because there's no automatic withdrawal with an ATM card. |

well do u have a job? you need to put at least 50 dollars to start within account. if your not 18 u need a parent to go with u. in the manager will walk u threw the process in its real simple. u need to decide if its savings account u want are checking. |

If you're on chex system you have to wait 5-7 years for your name to get off. Of course if you are on there then you owe them money ( them meaning your former bank). You need to pay them off and appeal to them to have you removed. |
