Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go get a credit card to buy people gifts for Christmas! You WILL regret it...If you can't pay for it now, you won't be able to pay for it much better later.... If you friends/family do not understand that you can not afford fancy gifts, then shame on them.... Buy the people who are most important to you something meaningful that you can pay for now, or make something from the heart. Going into debt for Christmas gifts really is a bad idea. Please think twice before you do it. |

Absolutely. Especially at this time of year. You can use any search engine to apply online, or you can go to any store that offers credit and apply and, if your credit is decent, be approved on the spot. Target gives you credit immediately, as do some other stores. However, a word of caution. Don't over-do it. Believe me...I've done it...and regretted it! If you were planning on getting a credit card anyways, then just be careful what you buy and who you buy for. Putting yourself in debt for an unspecified amount of time for Christmas gifts isn't the best thing to do, again, I'm talking from experience. I do understand the desire to get nice gifts for family and friends too. Whatever your decision, have a Merry Christmas! |

If there is a particular store that you like to shop in then those stores often have store credit cards that are approved while instore. Often if approved a store credit card can be used on the same day (stores like Gap, Old navy etc... print you out a shopping pass the same day)
Otherwise you can go the Visa's or MasterCard's websites where they will match your preferences and send you to providers and you can apply online often with instant approval. |

You should make sure you only spend on it what you can pay. They article below gives a lot of good alternatives. If you're looking to build credit, by all means, do it without paying finance charges! |
