Just tell them you sat down and started your budget for 2008 and realized that you couldn't spend anything on Christmas this year.
If they got you a $25 gift because they expected a $25 gift from you, say that under the circumstances you aren't comfortable accepting such a nice gift from them and then wistfully offer it back to them. |

Tell them the truth that you didnt' you budget and couldn't afford it. They will understand if anyone would its friends and family. I'm buying less expenses gifts for the family this year and I just told them when we where altogeather we needed to do a small x-mas this year because I couldn't afford much. They all understood and said not to worry about getting them anything but a card. I'm still getting them small gifts but its the thought that counts after all. Just be honest though |

Tell them you had to use it to help your <<mom, sis, brother, etc>> out of a jam. Mention that you know they, as true friends, will understand that you had to help your family. Thank them for also respecting your privacy, because of course you can't tell them exactly what the problem is. Give them the cheapo gifts as a mere token of how much you appreciate them.
Then go buy yourself and ipod touch!! |

Your grandma REALLY needed her pacemaker fixed...needed a heart monitor...lost her top dentures...needed help paying for her meds this month...lost her prosthetic eyeball.--you knew they'd understand since they have both their eyeballs...adopted a homeless family this year to buy gifts and Christmas dinner for and you feel so rewarded--you knew they would understand since they have so much...and FINALLY--you decided to get that colon cleansing you've been putting off!!!
PS you Should do the homeless family idea..you can buy a mulitude of kid gifts for kids at the dollar store so it won't cost a lot and you won't believe how rewarding it will be to see the tears of gratefullness from the parents... |
