A lot of good advice here...take it!!
I can almost promise you that you will be soooo sorry if you go to a shark. They are relentless & scary if/when you fall behind & once you are behind it's close to impossible to get out from under them & your debt to them. Even if all goes ok, you will still end up paying double, triple, quadruple the amount of your original loan.
Having said that, I want to point out that you are a testiment to the lengths a parent will go to & risks we're willing to take to care for & protect our children. Just plz keep your head about you & know that by not getting yourself involved with risky loans/sharks is another way to protect them!!
I wish you the best & hope that you take some of the helpful advice given here & try those alternatives 1st.
EDIT:
Be careful of some of the subsequent 'offers' here. Some may be legit but others are smelling the blood in the water. Just a friendly warning... |

Speak to the Citizens Advice Bureau before a loan shark. The sharks literally bite if you cross them.
In the Northwest of England there are Credit Unions where anybody can get cash. Search for your nearest on the net.
For you and your kids sake don't use the sharks babe! |

If you cant get a loan then its because you are unlikely to be able to repay it - not because you are a single mum.
What is the money for?
You and your child are at much greater risk from a loan shark than your child is from getting run over. It is not the answer. |

Do not go to a loan shark under any circumstances. They have ruined hundreds of lives. If you live in the UK you can get a loan from your local Credit Union. In Central Scotland many towns and villages have them. Their interest rates are excellent. Please try them first before you do anything else. I would imagine you would find their phone numbers in the phone book or you might be able to access through the internet ......e.g. Credit Unions in ...............(Insert your council's name). Hope this is of help. |

Please go to the Citizens advice Bureau (UK).
3 years ago Me and my partner had £50,000 worth of debt, not including mortgage, we had 3 children and 1 income. They obviously didn't pay it off but managed our debts/creditors. Now we are debt free. We now have learn't to live within our means. We struggled but made it with the excellent help from the CAB.
Don't borrow anymore money, it doesn't solve your problems. |

Don't go to a loan shark! Just imagine what will happen if you can't afford a payment.
Are you in UK? If your really desperate try Provident Personal Credit. They are a doorstep lender and charge extortionate interest but they won't hurt you if you get behind.
Anything is better than what you're thinking of getting in to. Don't do it, for your kids sakes!! |

If the banks wont lend its because they believe you cant afford it. If you cant afford the bank rates, you certainly cant afford a loan shark's rates and they're much worse than banks when it comes to getting their money back. |

If you are thinking about getting a loan, then you should know about the basics before you get started. If you understand the basic dos and don’ts of loans, then you will be better equipped to find the best loan for your needs. Whatever type of loan you are applying for, you should follow these basic rules to help you find the best deal. When searching for a loan, it pays to do your research. Look for as many suitable lenders as you can, so that you can find the very best deal. There are many online pages that<!--allow you to compare loan rates from a variety of lenders. As well as looking online, check out your high street banks and mortgage lenders for deals too. You may find the loan that you need here,

If possible, try and avoid taking out secured loans. If the amount you need to borrow is small or you have good enough credit to borrow without collateral, then do so. Although unsecured loans have higher rates, they are less risky because your home will not be at risk if you cannot make the payments.Try and take a loan out over the shortest period-->you can afford. Taking loans out over 10 years or more can be risky, and you cannot be sure what your financial situation will be at that time. |

Forget loan sharks. Write to the people to whom you owe money stating that you are a single parent and finding hard to pay off any debts. Ask if you can pay a peppercorn amount each week/month. They would rather get something than take you to court. |

If you are in serious debt, the last thing you want to do is get a loan shark.
What you have to do is find a debt consolidator, which is a professional service offered to people who have problems getting help at the banks. A debt consolidator will help negotiate a repayment plan with your creditors and help you to get your spending under control.
If you google 'debt consolidation' and the name of the country you live in, you should be able to find out more information about this service. It would also be wise for you to try to find one in your area that is 'non-profit' and does not charge you an exorbitant fee for the service.
Obviously a loan shark could market themselves as a 'debt consolidator' in the hopes of getting an unwitting customer. Please do some research on this service before you commit to any one company.
Finally, the fact that you would even consider a loan shark tells me that you are seriously under-educated regarding financial matters. Seek out and enrol in a basic financial management course that is offered in your locale. |

I would approach this one very cautiously ..loan sharks are buggers and you cant avoid them once you agree anything with them.
sounds daft but there are still loads of ways of making money out there . You have internet access and theres lots of various jobs available .. If you have a webcam there are some very easy ways of making a few quid depending on how liberated you are and even if its a bit unsavoury its safe ..just a thought |
