I can see that you have no way of making more money...but it is feasible with your current income to save $450. You just need to watch your spendings. It may be hard to resist, but if you really wanna go to Coasta Rica, then you will do it.
Three things:
DO buy things you keep that increase their value
MINIMIZE buying things you consume (expensive dinners, cell phones, etc.)
DO NOT buy things you keep that love their value (fancy car, music)
Also:
Keep track of your expenses. That way you will be more aware of how you are spending your money. I suggest just keeping a small slip of paper in your wallet/purse and keep track of every thing. Have columns that include: date, purpose, amount (+/-), balance. If you buy something...write it down. If you take cash out...write it down. When you get paid...write it down. These will just make you more conscious of your spendings. |

Have a garage sale and get rid of some things you no longer have need of. Buy only the things you need, don't be extravacant. You should have no problems saving the money. |

Depending on what climate you live in you could shovel snow, mow lawns, walk dogs, collect bottles, deliver flyers, walk more than use your car, make friendship bracelets and sell them at school. You'd be surprised at how fast the money adds up. Don't eat lunches out for awhile (if you do now), stay away from Starbucks for awhile. Anywhere you can cut corners, do it. Don't buy clothes unless you really have to. |

Car pool, to save money for gas, as for the rest, save all you can. If you make it, Great, If not, then it's a learning lesson for the future, that to same money for things you really want is better than to spend money on things you think you might want... Wait til you get older, and learn that what you want comes after bills, rent, food, clothing for your children and so on. To learn to save now, would only benefit you in the long run. If you learn to budget, and save, then you will also learn what is important. money that is long saved, is hard to spend... |

You mention that you have to pay for gas and Lunch - why not make your own lunch with ingredients from your Fridge and Food cupboard - that way you could save some money and as we say in England if you look at the pennies the pounds will look after themselves.
Hope you get enough for your trip |

Bring food from home for lunch - stop going out for lunch. Add up the amount you spend each day for lunch and see how much you would save. Gas - stop driving places you don't absolutely have to go to. Try to do your "chore" outings (shopping, drycleaners, etc) in one trip rather than going out, coming home, going out again later that day, coming home, going to the same area again tomorrow). If you absolutely need Starbucks, buy the tall (small) size, or make your coffee at home. When your parents see how much you are trying... really trying... they may relent and help you out with the last hundred. Just try. That's what they want to see. They want to know you can put your heart into helping. |

You have a concrete goal in mind. Good. Now, save as hard as you can! You'll be proud of yourself when you reach your goal. It'll prove to yourself that you can do what you need to. You can find ways to make extra money for a little while. Think hard and you'll come up with some ideas. It'll be a struggle, but a good struggle. Golden opportunity for you to learn an important lesson at an early age. Work your boo-tay off for a while! Keep a positive mindset and you'll succeed. I'm rooting for you! Enjoy Costa Rica! |

don't buy your lunch pack it from home.
can you walk to your job or take the bus?
ask around and see if someone needs a babysitter
see if you can take on some extra shifts
collect your change and then turn it into bills - you will be surprised at how much money in coins you have! |

Have some one you TRUST open another account and have your money, at least 10% directly deposited into his/her account. That way it will build up and YOU can't touch it w/o them. |

Stop buying things with the money you earn. If it's something you actually need, go for the cheapest option. |

they say beg, borrow, or steal. My advice to you is simply ask someone to lend you the money for a short period. |

brown bag your lunch and only drive places you need to go. if a friend needs a ride ask for gas money. |

have you considered getting a second job?
either that or why not open up a savings account with your bank and put all money you can afford to loose away
or ask your bank for a loan or overdraft |

Turn your part time hours into more cash. There's no reason why you cannot turn your skills into money doing what you love. Let's say you want to teach older people how to use computers... organize a group of 5-10 students and charge $5-20 per class. That's $25 to $200 per class. If you set up a legitimate business ($80 or so) you can also get tax credits for any advertising expenses, meeting room rentals, equipment and supplies, etc. to end up making even more money tax-free. Maybe you would prefer to take in laundry from busy households... $2 here and $5 there can add up when a machine is doing the work. You might consider doing websites for local businesses or helping kids with homework or making and selling greeting cards aimed at teens. It's gonna take time but set realistic goals and you can achieve them. |

Forget enjoyment ....just work towards your Goal.
If it is legal and ethical - and rewards you - Go for it.
Hope this helps. |

It will be difficult but use your money only on the absolute essentials. I know it is easily said but it is the only way. Take a paper and pencil now - forget the computer, and write down your minimum gas bill and food bill for the week. Add 10 % to that total and then make sure you save the remainder of your cash . You have to make the sacrifices, it is the only way ! |

You may also look out for an option to work online to make extra cash in your spare time. I am a part time worker doing work online at home, so I would like to share a link where you can make $600-$1500 in a month working at home. The work need to be done is posting/answering a discussion and uploading any photo/image of your interest. For details visit
http://ommc.blogspot.com
I will publish few more genuine site in couple of weeks, where you can earn money. You may also write to me at talkofmoney@rediffmail.com (Note: When u are planning for a home based online work, be careful because most of them are scam and ask you to pay initial money. never pay money to any such site.) |
