It's hard to make money when you're only 13, but perhaps you could check with your neighbors, family members, friends of your parents, etc. and ask them politely if there's any work you could do for them. Household and yard work. Laundry, vacuuming, garage cleaning, lawn mowing, window washing, dog walking, dog or cat sitting, anything you feel you can do that would help these folks. Print up a flyer on your computer. Have it say something like: No Job Too Small - I'll Do it All (List some jobs below this and then Reasonable Rates - [Don't charge too much!] Your name & phone #) Leave flyers at people's homes and post them on your neighborhood bulletin boards. Elderly folks are especially in need of a little assistance from time to time. Before you know it you will have more work than you have time for and if your rates are $5 to $6 per hour, you can make about $50 a day! Good luck - don't be afraid to try it! |

Babysit or if you like sports look at the little league sports in your area some times the are looking for a ref, umpire or grounds set-up. I use to be a umpire for the little league in my city you only have to be 12 years old and you get paid depending on the type of game you work. So for a Coach Pitch league they only needed 1 umpire so I got paid $20.00 a game and the games lasted about an hour. If there were 2 umpires then it was $10 for the base ump and $15 for the plate ump. and when it was tournament time it went up to $20 for a base ump and $25 for a plate ump( most games around 1 hour and a half). And you could sign up for as many games as you good do which could be up to 2 Monday-Friday and up to 4 on Saturday.
If you don't like baseball then my brother did the same as a referee for basketball or there is soccer, and volley ball. This is a great way to make money with out it taking up all of your day and it is fun. |

What do you need money for at the age of 13 well you can do chores around the house for your mom or I'm sure there are some elderly people who stay in the neighborhood that you can assist with something of course with your parents knowledge or you can maybe become a tutor for some younger children who is struggling with their reading. good luck with what ever you find to do |

Check with your school to see if they know or have any programs for students to earn money. My district allows students to earn minimum wage working in the cafeterias and the workers get free meals to boot. You can also check with the local job center to see if there are any programs for students to earn money. You would be surprised of all the programs that are out there for people your age. |
