here's why:
i am saving for a Macbook (it will cost me $1300)
i still have a few expensive gifts to get for Christmas (we don't take it lightly around here)
i have bills to pay (my parents charge me for direct tv, internet access, and cellphone. my sister and i sponsor a child in China, and i tithe to my church and also give $10 for missions)
i have $300 saved and in the safe for my Macbook. i have $20 with my mom that i would like to go towards my Macbook, but it will most likely go toward Christmas gifts. and i have $48 saved toward December's bills.
i make this money by:
babystitting for a neighbor 1-5 times a week
cleaning my dads rentals when someone moves out (once every other 3-4 months)
i need more ways to make money. i don't want to be 50 by the time i get my computer. thanks.

i don't even watch tv anymore unless we are together as a family. and i just use the cellphone to talk to my parents when i'm home alone. i do use the internet all the time though. |

First, congratulations for being one of few teens that have their heads screwed on straight.
Second, I would suggest calling the people that you babysit for and asking for referrals so you can babysit more often.
Third, let them know there will be a temporary price increase for your babysitting serices and / or ask them if there are any chores around their houses that they may pay you extra for while you are babysitting (folding clothes, vacuumming, etc.).
Fourth, sounds like you're a smart kid, try tutoring (with a fee of course) during your study periods (I think that's what they're called, I don't remember) and lunch periods (but make sure you eat).
Ask your parents if there are any chores they'd be willing to pay you for.

well u said you baby sit how about cleaning leaves in the yards or the snow? maybe do some fixing up around other places that you know you can do and get some cash rolling in, also put a hold on your cell phone so you would not pay that much just for the next two months or lower your plan if possible, direct TV is a luxury are u sure u can afford it for this time being? take care |

Since you go to church make a list of those who would benefit by your help. Get this list approved by your parents and don't be afraid to ask others if they need help this holiday season. When I was 16 I work at a diner. But before than I worked by cleaning houses for the elderly and then families and I learned to bake. Around the holidays a friend of mine and I would put an ad in the paper and put up flyers at all the small stores. We would bake pies for $6-$10 a piece. It made us enough money for Christmas and much more! I also had to pay my parents when I was 16 too. I hope you do well and reach your goals. Just be sure to have your parents approval at whatever you choose. Good luck;) |

have you tried chik-fil-a they hire at 14. otherwise dog sit, or walk and take care of neighbors dogs while they work,rake, wash cars or pets. check into sitting with the elderly, collect aluminum cans, shop or run errands for friends and family, gift wrapping . |

You can get like 600 dollars a week for being a summer camp counselor. That's totally what I'm going to do. But I have to wait until the summer...and so would you. There's really nothing else you can do. Wow, eighteen?? You have to be fourteen in Austin to work at amy's ice cream. It's just great. Don't ever work for an HEB or any other grocery store though. They have horrible pay and everyone there is depressed. |

The 300 you already have should STAY in savings for a college fund, not for toys and gifts.

you sound like a hardworking responsible teenager - charge your parents for just being you ! I am sure you do homework on your PC - either try a leasing mac or a second hand one or get your parents to share the costs and they can make a payback plan (maybe in kind as well as in cash).
Plan B is to tell your parents to take a hike - you sound better off without them - financially anyway..... |
