tell your dad about credit card that gives reward in money.. so you get Marney back every time you spend money... on the other hand your dad is wise, credit cards push people to spend more than what they will spend in regular circumstances (that the whole idea credit card was invented) |

Just tell him like you're telling us. It makes good financial sense too. I don't know how old you are and if you can actually have a credit card in your name...that may be a problem but if it isn't a problem then get one with a spending limit on it. You can also get traveler's checks that can be cashed anywhere in the world and at any bank as well. He can open up a checking account for you and get you a debit card that is linked to that account only. The only thing is, I don't know if India is into debit cards yet...they should be but you can check with the India Embassy here first. Good luck! |

Instead of opening up the liability, consider putting cash into a cash card like Wal-Mart issues in this country (US). You
pay them money, it goes into the card and that limits how much can be lost. Looks like a Visa or MasterCard.
Recently I read that a guy who bicycled across China found it easier to get money out of an advance paid card than from travelers checks. |

You really should not try to force your dad into giving you a credit card, Usually childs go wild with credit card's, This is probably why your dad does not trust you.
Supply your dad with some good reasons why you should have a credit card, Have a big conversation with your dad and tell him how you are going to use it responsibly, This shall give him some ideas to work on.
Leave him with these thoughts pondering through his head, Once he has made up his mind he will give you an answer, If the answer is not the one you are looking for try again, But you must not lie at all, Your parents can tell if your lying or not, This should work if you are upfront and honest with your father.

Get travellers checks, or call AAA and get a Visa Passport travel card. You can load it before you go with a specified amount of money and you can recoup the money if you have to report the card stolen. |

Credit cards can get one into lots of problems...why not get traveler checks if you don't want to carry allot of cash..they are secured and safer.. |
