ordinarily you should tell the truth, but if you can't like in this case - maybe you can say you spent it on gas. |

Don't lie, tell the truth. Pay your friend back, you would want to be paid back, plus if you need to borrow again, your good for it. |

Face the music, be honest, and tell your mom you borrowed $20. At least it wasn't a $1000. |

She might hate it when you borrow, but if you are honest about it, and pay your debts, then that is the honorable thing to do and deserves respect. |

 |
Just be honest with her. She will appreciate that way more, than finding out that you lied to her. I'm a mom myself, and I HATE when my son lies to me. |
|

Laura
|
Just tell her you borrowed it. You will be in more trouble if she finds out you lied to her about it than if you just tell her about it to start with. |

Honesty is always the best policy. Pay your friend back and tell your mom the truth. Hiding things just adds unnecessary stress to life. |

Tell the truth and talk to your mom about your money situation... |

Don't listen to Erin, being truthful with your Mom is the best way. Unless she is violent or something of the nature. In that case contact Children and Youth. |

Tell the truth & listen to your mom. She's trying to teach you responsibility. Borrowing money is a bad habit & she's just trying to keep you from doing it. People who borrow money when it's not an emergency are selfish. I'm responsible enough to handle my finances, I shouldn't have to be put in the awkward position of having a friend take advantage of that. You'll lose friends if you keep borrowing money. |

Is your first choice to lie?
Or can you "man up" and just admit you borrowed the money - because that's the kind of person you are?
Just say "I know you don't like it, Mom, but I borrowed $20 from Chelsea and I repaid her" or whomever. She may not like borrowing money - but it's a good thing that you're paying it back and not blowing it off.
Try being honest about who you are and what you do; or - if it's your mom's money you're loaning out - don't. In the end - honesty works best.
If your mom is on you about borrowing money, is it because you do it all the time - and if so, do you maybe have a problem with money or with impulse buying?
Moms and dads are not usually out to make your life hell - they usually know that bad habits can help make a bad life; so they're really trying to give you good advice. They usually love you more than anyone else ever will. |

Be honest and stop borrowing from friends before you lose them |

Well, for one thing, learn to budget so you don't have to borrow. Second, she hasn't taught you to be responsible with money if you have to borrow it. So, just tell her the truth. |
|

♥ LIFE!!!
 |
Just tell her that you were getting dinner with your friends, and you left your wallet somewhere, so they let you borrow 20 bucks to cover your meal. and then you paid them back. |

If mom asks, you need to tell her the truth. she may hate it and i don't blame her. i try to teach my kids the same things...but you did work for the money and you do intend to pay back your friend and i commend you for that. oh, and if you want to really get on her good side you can say " i know mom. neither a lender or a borrower be is the best policy" parents eat that stuff up. |

tell your mom, at least its not a LOT of money.. she'll have to understand, also let your friend know that youre money may be a wee late |

It was just 20 bucks, you're not dead just because of that right? |

Pay your friend back first! Then tell your mom you spent that other 20 dollars by taking your friend to eat or something. Then she will assume that you give money to your friends instead of borrowing it! :)
Btw, why does your mom worry about your money decisions? |
|

Your mom should be happy you have a job and are paying off debts. It shows you are being productive and responsible. Also its only 20 bucks. I seriously can't understand any parent being upset by this. I think you are probably worrying too much about it. |

Be honest. Tell your Mom, then add, "Mom, I got some advice at Yahoo! Answers I'm really going to try to stick to: 'Neither a borrower nor a lender be.'" Good luck. Maybe you should do more SHOPPING at the mall and less BUYING; then you wouldn't have to borrow. |

Michelle

A) Just tell her, because moms have this creepy way of finding out everything with just one look.
B) You can tell her you put it somewhere but then forgot where you put it.
C) Say you had it then you lost it without knowing where it is. |

* From your $150, give $20 to your friend. Tell mom you:
-owed your friend
-spent it
*Ask your Mom for $20. I did that once (for $36), it went perfectly fine!
*YOU'RE GETTING PAID $150?! Is that your allowance or something? T^T Nah....it can't be....right? |
