Look for cards that offer 0% on balance transfers.

This will save you TONS.

I had a couple cards much the same way. I went and got Am Exp Blue that gave me 0% on balance transfers... Transfered the balances and saved probably over $900 last year.

This month I will make my last payment on Am Exp Blue and will be debt free 16 months earlier than if I kept paying all those balances separately. If you take a loan out as someone here suggested, you are still going to pay interest.

The key is, when you transfer the balances, do not use the other cards. I cut mine up and closed all but one account.

Only if the interest rate is lower and make sure they don't charge you a fee to open the account. I would take the highest rate card & see if you can't transfer it to your lower int rate card. Whatever you decide to make this work you can close these accounts now so you won't or can't charge them back up.

That's dumb.

Not unless you can get a card that offers a very low interest rate and a very high credit limit.

While it sounds good at first to put the whole amount on one card you have to remember that doing so might max out the new card and that can immediately trigger a reset on the interest rate for that card.

Unless you can get a card with a credit limit of at least $5000 and a low to zero interest rate... don't do it.

You do not want to use up more than 30% of a card's credit limit nowadays. Otherwise your creditors look at you as a credit risk because you are getting over the "comfort" zone and use up too much of your credit limit.

cards.hotusa.org - try this one. You can compare different credit cards and choose the best one for you to transfer funds.
Some of them accept everyone, even if a person has bad/no credit.

Ok, you need to get a hold of your credit, sooner rather than later. Yes, its a good idea, if you can get one of the cards, with no interest on balance transfers for at least 1 year. Then you focus only on paying off that debt, in the year, and no more purchases.

Trust me, going into credit card debt is a nightmare. You want to have 3 credit cards, tops, if you have more than that, you need to close those accounts. 3 is probably 2 too many. You should never buy on a card, unless you can pay the balance off at the end of each month, never carry revolving debt. Some cards give rewards, and that can be nice, as long as you are not ever paying interest/service fees. If you can't afford it, DON'T BUY IT.

Simple as that.

I would get a new card and transfer to all to that. Find a card that has a low interest rate on balance transfers. Try applying for an American Express Blue card.. the balance transfer rate is 2.99%

No, the difference in interest isnt going to be much, dollar wise. First cut up the card. The try and cut back on some expenses and pay double the minimum every month, or more if you can. The balance will get lower and you'll be debt free soon enough. This will enable you to live happily instead of debt ridden. Good luck!

NOOOOOOOOOO

That's the fast track to bankruptcy.

If you can't afford to pay your bills, get a regular bank loan or a line of credit.

NOOO!!! Because then your stuck in the same situation. It's a very common mistake. Then how are you going to get the money to pay that one. It's a cycle!

Tom and Aimee N
Heck no, why waste a good thing. Get the new card and max it out, then tell that company to get in line with everyone else, and thanks for the TV set.

Then wait a few years down the road and call a settlement company and pay only 50% of the balance.

That's free money!!

Credit means nothing for me. Mine stinks horribly, but the last 3 cars I've purchased I've just had to but down a big chunk. Money talks. So get some!
