If you deposit it, do not take out any of the money, even if the check clears after a few days! If the check is fake, and it probably is, you will have to repay the bank if you make any withdrawals against the amount.

Sounds like part of a email scam. Remember, a cashiers check is cash! It is a voucher from the source bank to your bank saying here is X whatever. This "claims agent" need not know **** about you but where to mail it. No bank numbers, no social, not your mother's maiden name,..... |

Make sure this is no scam! You mention something about a claim and claim agent. Is this a check for insurance benefits or claims? Be sure to check it out before you deposit it. |

Sounds like it might be a scam.. Sometimes there are some hidden requirements, like signing up with their bank and paying annual fees, or a admissions cost bigger than your cashiers check.. I would defiantly toss it! Make sure to look into it further if you decide to keep it. Good luck! |

Sounds like a scam. Probably an attempt to get your bank account number. Don't contact the "claim agent" as they will try to get personal info from you that you should never give out to a stranger (bank account, Social Security # etc.) |

Sounds like a scam. Have an officer at your bank take a look at it. It might be a loan with horrific interest. Or they might misuse your signature, or ad finitum......... |

did you enter any kinda of competition? to win money, sounds a little fake to me, if the bank is giving you money, they wont send you a check only to return it to them and deposit it, theyll just put it into your bank account and a letter in the mail, its sounds like a scam, take it to your bank and let them know what you recieved, asked them what the check is for etc, before yo ueven ask to deposit it!
Whwn i pay a check i see what bank it goes into, if im a smart theif i could dig a little deeper and find more numbers of the account its been put into, then start using the account i put that money into as my own, with technology today, anything is possible, i wouldnt take the risk unless you KNOW its legit! |

If it's a real cashier's check, and you're in doubt of the source, take it in and request the cash. Don't deposit it... and if someone is asking for your account info, don't give it to them. That's pure scam. |

Ask to return your check in your bank, go to that banker and withdraw the cash and deposit the amt in your A/C. You cant deposit the check if its mentioned cash or self in the pay blank. |
