I received a check ih the mail for 4,700 along with an letter telling me I won $90,000 when the check clears?
I'm to send it in for the insurance on the 90,000 I know it's a scam so when the 4,700 clears should I keep it?

STEVEN F
The $4,700 if a FRAUDULENT check. Your bank WILL take the money back. If it is no longer in your account, you will be charged overdraft fees and are liable to the bank for the $4,700 and the fees. If they can prove you KNEW it was a scam, you could face charges for criminal bank fraud.

Remember what your MAMA told you- - - - - -"if it's TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, then it probably ISN'T" !!!!! If you entered NOTHING, then you WON nothing....it's a BIG scam that could cost you PLENTY... I'd take IT and all documents you received WITH it and hand it over to your State Attorney General's office... It is THERE job to investigate things like this and go after the culprits.. I've seen a LOT of stuff like this reported about on the local evening news and they are always saying at the end of the story to contact the State Attorney General's Office if you receive anything like this in the mail.

It's not going to clear, the check will be returned and your bank account will be assessed fees for a returned item.

do u like JAIL?
depositing that fraudulant check can land u in jail with an arrest on ur record.
tear it up or send it to ur AG in ur state.
simple logic say if u didn't play , u can win.

Don't worry about it - it's not going to clear. If it looks like it did, don't touch the money, it'll be charged back when it bounces. Better still, if you didn't already deposit it, don't.

Take it to the bank and speak to a representative. Be careful that the check does not have a statement saying that if you cash it you are agreeing to a loan of some sort.

This exact thing happened to my wife and we got got!!!!!! Notifie the police and the bank the check is drawn on. If your still in contact with the senders then maybe they'll catch them and kill them!!

see a lawyer
OR
take it to the sheriff or police FIRST.

ScamBuster
you got caught up in a scam... the bank may close your account... next time don't accept checks from strangers.

To Avoid scams here is what i tell people...
All spam emails/unsolicited phone calls/letters and faxes are scams.
As a general rule - ANYTHING involving Western Union/money gram = Scam.
my Advice: Don't deal with anyone out of state or from a foreign country or Accept or cash checks from strangers and never use wire/bank transfer services.. you risk losing your $$ and your mind.
Remember, if it sounds too good
to be true, it probably is! NEVER(ever) give out your personal information to strangers online or offline! Always be on guard.

Go to Vegas and make a profit, then keep 4,700 and return 4,700 to the cops

sexytrojan
Yes, but don't put it in your bank account.

Take it to one of those "No ID required" check cashing places (in the hood, nearest you) and cash it there.

It will NOT clear, I swear to you I WILL laugh at you when your check bounces and you're held liable for the scam.

The bank is complicit in this scam, they let you walk away with the money, spend it or give it back to the scammer, then they come asking for you for it!
