I received a letter this morning and I'm 100% sure its a SCAM. Please confirm.?
The letter was from "Captial Asset Corporation" informing me that I had received a personal claim award of £9000, and all I needed to do would be to return the reply slip and a processing fee of £19.95 within 7 days.
Moreover, I have the option of recieving a lump sum payment of £9000 or three payments on £3000.

This must be a scam because I have had no business with this company before (based in Canada, and I'm from UK)

Please re-assure me that ripping this up and putting in the bin is the correct thing to do.

The second part of this question is WHY ??

do they just mail this out to zillions of people and profit from the £19.95 ?

Im more worried about how a company in CANADA got my details

I got the same letter last week, mine went straight in the bin. After receiving your £19.95, they will ask for more then ask you to confirm all your details leaving you open to ID fraud. Dont think about it anymore, BIN IT!

JOOBERY
SCAM! Best bin it now :o)

Boy, it smells like dead fish here. Yes it is a scam. Do not respond.

t.andrews431@btinternet.com
It defiantly is a scam, they rely on some people being daft enough to send the so called processing fee. This is how they make money, anyway who ever heard of anyone getting any money out of these people. who send these out.

Scam - have you ever put personnel claim in? It's any easy way to collect £20 quid from lots of gullible people...

You are right it is a scam. No legit company does processing fees they would take it out of the cheque they sent you!!

It's FAKE. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. Rip it up and toss it out. The check is fake and you'll lose a lot of money if you choose to do it.

BIN IT!

Definately a scam, dont EVER send any money to any person/company youve never heard of.

As for how they got your address, could be from a number of places, think of all the companies you deal with who have your address (like home shopping catalogue companies, maybe?), they sell this information to companies like this, i often wonder the same when i get phone calls from companies and im ex-directory!

Feetjie009
It is a scam - you can bin it or you can send it to your local trading standards for information.

If anything asks you for a fee it's probably a scam, moreso if you've never heard of them, I'd chuck it in the bin!

Buddy
SCAM.

Its a scam, If you have never had anything to do with them and put no claims in. Rip it up and bin it as they will prey on loads of people at this time of year.
