what you did was very silly... but you already know that now....... luckily for you there is a loophole in the law that states if you can prove you didnt know what you were signing into you may not be liable for the repayment. i would seek advice from the citizens advice bureau on that. you will be held responsible as regards falsifying documents regarding your age though as you were well aware that you entered the wrong date of birth. this will be treated as a serious crime ie fraud. your parents may well have to pay a fine or you may have to do community service
in addition to this though the company you applied to should also be held largely responsible as they obviously didnt check you id properly... they are likely to be heavily fined. it will be cheaper for them to pay off your contract than be fined (hint hint) if you learn wisely from this mistake u might be quite lucky |

Charlie, You are screwed... Your parents are liable and right now that bill is getting bigger because of interest and late fees, pretty soon theres going to be a knock at the door and its going to be a bill collector, even worse your credit rating is being destroyed, you will find it extremely difficult to ever get a mobile on contract again let alone a car loan, as for lying on an official document that is called fraud, and is prosecuted as an adult, which means possible jail.. Sleep tight |

Yeah what is the problem with paying up. Are you expecting to get let off. Your parents will be held liable and the baliffs could turn up. You really dont want that! Own up and pay up, be a man. |

They're just trying to frighten you. What they'll likely do is keep harassing you. Best thing for you to do is negotiate terms to repay your debt.
You aren't in a place to negotiate anything. You commited fraud by signing a contract in the first place. |

You cannot sign a contract at age 16 and they should have asked you for proof of ID. If not, it's on them.
However you need to amend your credit report. Equifax allows you to explain circumstances online.
Send them proof of your age and the creditors and DO NOT try this stupid crap again.
You committed fraud and got away with it, it won't happen again trust me. |

a minor cannot enter into a contract.it becomes null and void. |

Pay the bill! Could be that they should have checked on your age first and I am sure they should have but you just admitted that the phone bill was due to you. Pay it! |

One thing you don't want to screw with is your credit. It takes a moment to ruin and a lifetime to rebuild. Did you agree to a service with these people? Did you use their product? Did they provide you a service? Don't cop out on something because you LIED to them!! You made the agreement. They provided the service. Be a man and pay the debts you are obligated too. Otherwise you will be another loser that the rest of us have to pay for. Enjoy the welfare checks I earned for you moron!!! |

It isn't what they will do to you. It is what they will do to your parents. Your parents will be responsible for anything you financially have done. And I am sure they will not be happy about this.
If no one takes care of it, there will be ruined credit. |

1st of all what you did was stupid. 2nd being underage at the time you sign the contract should forfait it. that is if you can prove that you were underage at the time as for any consequences as payments etc... the mobile phone company might just ask your parents for the money. great idea you had there. |

you cant enter into that contract without being old enough. Also they should have checked your id or something. You can always have your parents threaten to sue them for acepting a contract from a minor and thus causing you damages. But honestly just pay you took the service. |

NOt only are your parents going to be held liable for your issue, you will get in serious trouble for lying about your age. THat is a crime to falsfy documents |

Suck it up, Charlie, and pay for what you contracted for.
Even if you were underage, you still knew that you were entering into an agreement where you were to pay for services you would receive. You should uphold your end of the bargain and not whine about it just because you were underage. |

if you sign a contract under age does it not make it null and void ? |

You and your parents are both safe. Minors can only enter into enforceable contracts for Necessities, and so far, no one has established that a cell phone is a necessity for a sixteen--year old.
Sorry kids, but don't use that argument on your parents. The further action might amount to one threatening letter, and then the legal department will drop it. |

just own up to your parents and the company and pay what you owe they will get it out of someone, offer to pay your parents back, and take on extra work - just put it down to one of life's lessons - you always get found out in the end!!!! |

If the company is nasty, they could bring you to juvenile court and accuse you of cheating on your age. The judge will sentence you to whatever he deems fit for the crime. Before it gets to that stage, it's better to pay up NOW. |

I would pay them If I were you....your credit is going to be damaged and it will affect you ,if you ever need to borrow money to pay for college for example. |

Give them your actual date of birth and proof of said date of birth. If they realize that you were under age at the time I don't think they can honestly do anything. But they most likely can do further action and take it up with your parents who are responsible for what their kids do online. |
