OMG children are so grown up at such a young age these days!
I didn't get a credit card until i was married and with a child!
Save some money and get a bank account and a key card.
Never spend money you dont have especially at 15 because if you get yourself in trouble, which is easy to do, it will affect your life immensely. And in a bad way!!!

I was under the opinion that credit cards are for 18 year olds and older. I know college kids use them for books. This is a very touchy thing because we are finding out now that credit card company's are scamming so many of us with over charges and added charges at their discretion and without anything we can do about it but pay those extra charges. Go to your parents. Talk to them about your conserns. They may suggest that they purchase a prepaid card for you to use on your "travels". Trust their wisdom in your finances. 15 is way too young to get caught up in debt and scams.

You want a DEBIT card (which looks like a major credit card), where you can only draw the $$$ that is in the card's savings account. Here's why:

Credit card lobbies in Washington D.C. ( who have congressnial AND senate leaders on stockholder payroll ) for years got clearance for allowing "adjustable rates" in their client contract plan.

What that means is, without warning, your credit card company can--and they always surely will--hike up your monthly / annual interest rate. This means you pay more $$$ on the minimum payments (and surely will NEVER pay off the complete debt owed), they hook you good---and it's like a payraise.....for them!!

And it's all legal--with great help from their stockholder congress and senate members, I might add.

Well, the folly these credit card companies enjoyed caught on w/ other banking lending agencies....and insurance and home mortgage companies jumped in and inculded "adjustable rates" in their contract plans.

The abuse of this clause, eventually led up to a major economic mess: people woke up one day and found they can't pay even the minimum monthly payments!! On an epic scale nationwide, this led to property forclosures now owned by the banking lenders---w/ no one in the market because of high lending rates....AND high petro gasoline prices!!!

Kinda like a domino effect--and we're now on the doorstep towards a economic recession.

What your friends w/ those shiny cards likely aren't telling you (or they don't realize) is their cards are likely DEBIT cards--where mommy and daddy put in so much into the card's account for withdrawal. Once the account is emptied, the card is then either rejected---or worse: OVERDRAFT fees mount up each time the card is overdrawn (a parent's nightmare).

Get a debit! its really good, my friend has one. you have to put the money on it before, instead of paying after.

you cant..their cards are prepaid by their parents..ask your parent

Talk to your parents. Believe it or not, your friends don't know everything.

The credit card companies who gave your friends cards were out to lunch. A credit card is a contractual instrument and a contract isn't valid with anyone under 18 unless the parent has signed for it.

start off with a debit card. you dont wanna get into credit cards unless you got a decent job

Wow i dont have a credit card - and for good reason. Getting into debt at any age sucks but at 15!!! Come on! If you are worried about emergencies - open a visa debit card. It can be used like a credit card but you can only spend your own money. Then put $100 on it and keep it for emergencies - simple!

Having debt will seriously effect you when you go onto further study or try to leave home. Don't get involved it's a black hole which is hard to get out of!

Your friends don't have real credit cards, they have debit cards with the Visa or Mastercard logo.

Try this for starters, you can get these at the drugstore:

Get as many as you can. If you are under 18 just spend away. you CAN NOT be held liable for any debt you incur.
